Non-calcium-containing phosphate binders: comparing efficacy, safety, and other clinical effects.

TL;DR: The evidence of efficacy and safety for newer calcium-free phosphate binders in CKD-MBD management is summarized, with sevelamer having a positive effect on bone disease, vascular calcification, and patient-level outcomes in dialysis patients in several trials.

Post-Parathyroidectomy Parathyroid Hormone Levels: The Impact on Patient Survival – A Single-Centre Study in a Stage 5 Chronic Kidney Disease Population

TL;DR: An association between the lowest quartile of iPTH recovery in the 5 years following PTX and poorer patient survival was found and should be tested in larger datasets.

Clinical decision support improves physician guideline adherence for laboratory monitoring of chronic kidney disease: a matched cohort study

TL;DR: Physicians who used the CDSS ordered all CKD-relevant testing more in accord with guidelines than those who did not use the system, which may improve physician adherence to guidelines with respect to timely monitoring of CKD.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ergocalciferol treatment and aspects of mineral homeostasis in patients with chronic kidney disease stage 4-5.

TL;DR: No harmful effects of short-term treatment with high-dose ergocalciferol were observed on markers of mineral homeostasis and FGF23 in CKD patients stage 4–5, and no changes were seen in the circulating vitamin D concentrations in the control group.
