TLDR
In this paper, an interferometric method for quantitative evaluation of the magnitude and direction of birefringence of an arbitrarily oriented bireringent sample is developed and presented.
Abstract
An interferometric method for quantitative evaluation of the magnitude and direction of birefringence of an arbitrarily oriented birefringent sample is developed and presented. The analysis shows that full-field analysis of a spatially varying birefringence is possible by suitably combining several interferogram frames obtained by varying the polarization parameters involved. The preliminary experimental result for a uniformly birefringent sample with a known direction of birefringence is presented. © 2015 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers

Variable-inclination Mach-Zehnder interferometer for testing laser robs

TL;DR: In this paper, a variable-inclination Mach-Zehnder interferometer was proposed to measure the transmission wavefront of laser rods and to improve the edge diffraction effect of small-aperture laser rods measured by Tayman or Fizeau interferometers.

In vivo birefringence and thickness measurements of the human retinal nerve fiber layer using polarization-sensitive optical coherence tomography

TL;DR: A fiber-based PS-OCT setup that produces real-time images of the human retina in vivo, coregistered with retinal video images of a healthy volunteer's location, shows that the nerve fiber layer located inferior and superior to the optic nerve head is more birefringent than the thinner layer of nerve fiber tissue in the temporal and nasal regions.

Two-dimensional birefringence measurement using the phase shifting technique

TL;DR: In this article, a phase shifting technique for the measurement of a two-dimensional birefringence distribution is described and discussed, and the results and procedures for measuring such a bireringence distributions of optical components such as a calibrated Babinet-Soleil compensator, a lens, and a roof prism are discussed.
