Raman spectroscopy in graphene

TLDR
In this article, the authors discuss the first-order and double resonance Raman scattering mechanisms in graphene, which give rise to the most prominent Raman features and give special emphasis to the possibility of using Raman spectroscopy to distinguish a monolayer from few-layer graphene stacked in the Bernal configuration.

Novel eco-friendly synthesis of graphene directly from graphite using 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxyl and study of its electrochemical properties

TL;DR: In this article, a simple, low cost, highly efficient and environment friendly one-pot method for the high throughput synthesis of graphene directly from graphite using 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine 1-oxyl (TEMPO) and H2O2 under microwave irradiation was reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of e-beam irradiation on graphene layer grown by chemical vapor deposition

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of electron beam (e-beam) irradiation of various doses (600 to 12,000μC/cm2) on CVD grown graphene has been examined by using Raman spectroscopy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman spectroscopy and In-situ Raman spectroelectrochemistry of isotopically engineered graphene systems.

TL;DR: Understanding the electrochemistry of graphene paves the way toward a controlled and targeted functionalization of graphene through redox reactions, especially when equipped with the possibility of an instantaneous monitoring of the thus introduced changes to the electronic structure of the system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Atomic-scale observation of rotational misorientation in suspended few-layer graphene sheets

TL;DR: A two-step method for obtaining a homogenous colloidal suspension of single or FLG sheets up to 0.15 mg ml(-1) in N,N-dimethylformamide solution is reported, which reconstructs the graphene lattice of each sheet and determines the relative rotation between consecutive graphene layers up, to six separate sheets.

Electric Field Effect in Atomically Thin Carbon Films

TL;DR: Monocrystalline graphitic films are found to be a two-dimensional semimetal with a tiny overlap between valence and conductance bands and they exhibit a strong ambipolar electric field effect.

The electronic properties of graphene

TL;DR: In this paper, the basic theoretical aspects of graphene, a one-atom-thick allotrope of carbon, with unusual two-dimensional Dirac-like electronic excitations, are discussed.

Two-dimensional gas of massless Dirac fermions in graphene

TL;DR: This study reports an experimental study of a condensed-matter system (graphene, a single atomic layer of carbon) in which electron transport is essentially governed by Dirac's (relativistic) equation and reveals a variety of unusual phenomena that are characteristic of two-dimensional Dirac fermions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman spectrum of graphene and graphene layers.

TL;DR: This work shows that graphene's electronic structure is captured in its Raman spectrum that clearly evolves with the number of layers, and allows unambiguous, high-throughput, nondestructive identification of graphene layers, which is critically lacking in this emerging research area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interpretation of Raman spectra of disordered and amorphous carbon

TL;DR: In this paper, a model and theoretical understanding of the Raman spectra in disordered and amorphous carbon is given, and the nature of the G and D vibration modes in graphite is analyzed in terms of the resonant excitation of \ensuremath{\pi} states and the long-range polarizability of the long range bonding.
