Raman spectroscopy in graphene

TLDR
In this article, the authors discuss the first-order and double resonance Raman scattering mechanisms in graphene, which give rise to the most prominent Raman features and give special emphasis to the possibility of using Raman spectroscopy to distinguish a monolayer from few-layer graphene stacked in the Bernal configuration.

Selective Proton/Deuteron Transport through Nafion|Graphene|Nafion Sandwich Structures at High Current Density.

TL;DR: Raman spectroscopy confirms that buried graphene layers are single-layer and relatively free of defects following the hot-press procedure used to make the sandwich structures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Homogeneous bilayer graphene film based flexible transparent conductor

TL;DR: In this paper, a bilayer graphene film grown with low pressure chemical vapor deposition was used as a transparent conductor for the first time, and the technique was demonstrated to be highly efficient in fabricating a conductive and uniform transparent conductor compared to multi-layer or single layer graphene.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of ethanol-soluble few-layer graphene nanosheets for flexible and transparent conducting composite films

TL;DR: A facile method of preparing few-layer graphene nanosheets (FLGs) is reported, which can be soluble in ethanol, and the promising applications of FLGs on graphene-based electronics, such as transparent electrode and flexible conducting film are demonstrated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chemical and structural properties of reduced graphene oxide—dependence on the reducing agent

TL;DR: In this article, different reductants applied to GO led to modification of carbon to oxygen ratio, carbon lattice (vacancy) and C sp3 defects with various in-depth distribution of C sp 3 due to oxygen group reduction proceeding as competing processes at different rates between interstitial layers and in planes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of peroxomonosulfate, peroxodisulfate and hydrogen peroxide on graphene oxide photocatalytic performances in methyl orange dye degradation

TL;DR: The study substantiates methyl orange dye degradation undergoes via the multiple degradation pathway such as (i) azo bond cleavage and hydroxylation, (ii), asymmetric cleavage followed by reduction of sulfonate group and aromatic ring removal and (iii) consecutive demethylation reactions and sulfonates group removal.

Electric Field Effect in Atomically Thin Carbon Films

TL;DR: Monocrystalline graphitic films are found to be a two-dimensional semimetal with a tiny overlap between valence and conductance bands and they exhibit a strong ambipolar electric field effect.

The electronic properties of graphene

TL;DR: In this paper, the basic theoretical aspects of graphene, a one-atom-thick allotrope of carbon, with unusual two-dimensional Dirac-like electronic excitations, are discussed.

Two-dimensional gas of massless Dirac fermions in graphene

TL;DR: This study reports an experimental study of a condensed-matter system (graphene, a single atomic layer of carbon) in which electron transport is essentially governed by Dirac's (relativistic) equation and reveals a variety of unusual phenomena that are characteristic of two-dimensional Dirac fermions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman spectrum of graphene and graphene layers.

TL;DR: This work shows that graphene's electronic structure is captured in its Raman spectrum that clearly evolves with the number of layers, and allows unambiguous, high-throughput, nondestructive identification of graphene layers, which is critically lacking in this emerging research area.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interpretation of Raman spectra of disordered and amorphous carbon

TL;DR: In this paper, a model and theoretical understanding of the Raman spectra in disordered and amorphous carbon is given, and the nature of the G and D vibration modes in graphite is analyzed in terms of the resonant excitation of \ensuremath{\pi} states and the long-range polarizability of the long range bonding.
