Journal ArticleDOI

Prenatal Micronutrient Supplementation and Intellectual and Motor Function in Early School-aged Children in Nepal

TL;DR: Aspects of intellectual functioning including working memory, inhibitory control, and fine motor functioning among offspring were positively associated with prenatal iron/folic acid supplementation in an area where iron deficiency is prevalent.
Journal ArticleDOI

Double-blind randomised trial of intravenous tissue-type plasminogen activator versus placebo in acute myocardial infarction

TL;DR: In a double-blind randomised trial 129 patients with first myocardial infarction of less than 6 h duration were allocated to treatment with human recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA) given intravenously over 90 min, or to placebo infusion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Autonomic Mechanisms in Hemodynamic Responses to Isometric Exercise

TL;DR: The role of the sympathetic nervous system was delineated in the heart rate and pressor responses to sustained handgrip and it was concluded that the increase in resistance was the result of sympathetically induced vasoconstriction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prolongation of the Q-T Interval in Man During Sleep

TL;DR: Statistics indicate that the Q-T interval is longer during sleep than during the awake state at the same heart rate, which may reflect increased vagal tone or sympathetic withdrawal and changes in repolarization related to the diurnal variation of some ventricular arrhythmias.
