Effects of obesity and caloric intake on biliary lipid metabolism in man
Lynn J. Bennion,Scott M. Grundy +1 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that obesity is characterized by excessive hepatic secretion of cholesterol which results in supersaturated bile, which could not be fully explained by the amount of calories they ingested to maintain stable weight.
Journal ArticleDOI
Monitoring 25 years of land cover change dynamics in Africa: A sample based remote sensing approach
Andreas Brink,Hugh Eva +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors examined the changes in sub-Saharan's natural land cover resources for a 25-year period, using high spatial resolution Earth observing satellites, showing a 57% increase in agriculture area at the expense of natural vegetation which has itself decreased by 21% over the period, with nearly 5 million hectares forest and nonforest natural vegetation lost per year.
Journal ArticleDOI
Applying generalized linear models
TL;DR: Generalized linear models have also been used in this article to fit and compare probability distributions of different probability distributions for time series and event history data, including survival data and event histories.

Predation, group size and mortality in a cooperative mongoose, Suricata suricatta.
Tim H. Clutton-Brock,David Gaynor,G. M. McIlrath,Andrew D. C. MacColl,R. Kansky,P. Chadwick,Marta B. Manser,J. D. Skinner,P. N. M. Brotherton +8 more
TL;DR: It is argued that high group extinction rates are to be expected in species where survival declines in small groups and mortality rates are high.
