Journal ArticleDOI
Asymptomatic cardiac ischemia pilot (ACIP) study: Outcome at 1 year for patients with asymptomatic cardiac ischemia randomized to medical therapy or revascularization
William J. Rogers,Martial G. Bourassa,Thomas C. Andrews,Barry D. Bertolet,Roger S. Blumenthal,Bernard R. Chaitman,Sandra A. Forman,Nancy L. Geller,A.David Goldberg,Gabriel B. Habib,Roy G. Masters,Robbin B. Moisa,Hiltrud S. Mueller,Douglas J. Pearce,Carl J. Pepine,George Sopko,Richard M. Steingart,Peter Stone,Genell L. Knatterud,C. Richard Conti,Acip Investigators +20 more
TL;DR: After 1 year, revascularization was superior to both angina-guided and ischemia-guided medical strategies in suppressing asymptomatic ischemIA and was associated with better outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative responses of rats and mice exposed to linear/branched, linear, or branched ammonium perfluorooctanoate (APFO).
Scott E. Loveless,Carol Finlay,Nancy E. Everds,Steven R. Frame,Peter J. Gillies,John C. O'Connor,Charles R. Powley,Gerald L. Kennedy +7 more
TL;DR: In both rats and mice, the overall responses to the linear/branched and the linear forms of PFOA were similar, but the branched form appears to be less potent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of type 2 iodothyronine deiodinase in hypothyroid rat brain indicates an important role of thyroid hormone in the development of specific primary sensory systems.
TL;DR: The results suggest that relay nuclei and cortical targets of the primary somatosensory and auditory pathways are specifically protected against thyroid failure and that T3 has a role in the development of these structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical Course Related to Preoperative and Postoperative Pulmonary Function in Patients with Bronchogenic Carcinoma
Samuel F. Boushy,Donal M. Billig,Donal M. Billig,Donal M. Billig,Luceil B. North,August H. Helgason,August H. Helgason +6 more
TL;DR: Unrotated factor analysis comparing patients who did well after operation with those who did not tolerate surgery due to respiratory causes revealed the FEV 1 to be the most helpful in separating these two groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Individual differences and within-flock convergence in chickadee calls
TL;DR: The Chick-a-dee call contains sufficient information that it can potentially be used by black-capped chickadees for individual recognition and both field and aviary data suggest that flock members converge in some call characteristics.
