Journal ArticleDOI

Hydrogenation of nitrile in supercritical carbon dioxide : a tunable approach to amine selectivity

TL;DR: In this article, the use of supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) on the hydrogenation of benzonitrile was investigated over Pd and other metal catalysts, and the results confirmed that the presence of CO2 is mandatory for the formation of benzylamine with high selectivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

High pressure in situ x-ray absorption spectroscopy cell for studying simultaneously the liquid phase and the solid/liquid interface

TL;DR: In this paper, a high pressure in situ x-ray absorption spectroscopy cell with two different path lengths and path positions is presented for studying element-specifically both the liquid phase and the solid/liquid interface at pressures up to 250 bar and temperatures up to 220 °C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Maleic anhydride hydrogenation over Pd/Al2O3 catalyst under supercritical CO2 medium

TL;DR: In this article, a comparison of the supercritical CO2 medium reaction with the conventional hydrogenation in the presence of commonly employed organic solvents is also described, and the use of various co-solvents for CO2 has also been investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

The role of carbon dioxide in chemoselective hydrogenation of halonitroaromatics over supported noble metal catalysts in supercritical carbon dioxide

TL;DR: Chemoselective hydrogenation of halogenated nitrobenzenes over Pt/C catalysts proceeds effectively in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) to produce halogenation anilines with excellent selectivity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Continuous Enantioselective Hydrogenation of Ethyl Pyruvate in “Supercritical” Ethane: Relation between Phase Behavior and Catalytic Performance

TL;DR: In this article, the phase behavior of an α-ketoester was investigated in a fixed-bed reactor over cinchonidine-modified Pt/Al2O3 using supercritical ethane as a solvent.

Aerogels-Airy Materials: Chemistry, Structure, and Properties.

TL;DR: The design of such a filigrane network requires the very careful control of chemical parameters and the reward is an assortment of different property profiles owing to the richness of possible variations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Structures of metal sites of oxidized bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase at 2.8 A

TL;DR: The high resolution three-dimensional x-ray structure of the metal sites of bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase is reported, suggesting a dinuclear copper center with an unexpected structure similar to a [2Fe-2S]-type iron-sulfur center.
Journal ArticleDOI

Homogeneous Hydrogenation of Carbon Dioxide

TL;DR: In this article, the simplest and most studied reactions of CO{sub 2} are the catalytic reactions with H{sub 1} in the presence or absence of other reactive species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reactions at supercritical conditions: Applications and fundamentals

TL;DR: A review of chemical reactions in and with supercritical fluids can be found in this paper, where the authors discuss both fundamental studies and applications of reactions at supercritical conditions, with focus on work published after 1985.
