Theoretical study on interaction between CO2 and carbonyl compounds: Influence of CO2 on infrared spectroscopy and activity of CO
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of CO2 on frequency shift of C = O in carbonyl compounds at different CO2 pressures has been studied both experimentally and theoretically, and it has been shown that the experimental frequency shifts can be well simulated by the theoretical model calculations using particular structures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydrogenation of Polystyrene in CO2-Expanded Solvents: Catalyst Poisoning
TL;DR: In this article, the hydrogenation of polystyrene in CO2-expanded decahydronaphthalene was studied in a batch reactor using two hydrogenation catalysts, 5%Pd/BaSO4 and 65%Ni/Al2O3/SiO2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Advantageous heterogeneously catalysed hydrogenation of carvone with supercritical carbon dioxide
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the hydrogenation of carvone in high-density carbon dioxide and found that it was generally faster in a single supercritical phase (fluid reagents) than in a biphasic system (liquid + fluid reactants).
Journal ArticleDOI
Continuous oxidation of benzyl alcohol in “supercritical” carbon dioxide
TL;DR: In this paper, supercritical carbon dioxide has been applied as solvent for the partial oxidation of benzyl alcohol with molecular oxygen in a fixed-bed reactor, achieving high rate and good selectivity to benzaldehyde.
Journal ArticleDOI
Catalysis for fine chemicals: who needs (will use) new solvents?
Hans-Ulrich Blaser,Martin Studer +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the need for new solvents for catalysis in the production of fine chemicals is discussed and the role of the solvent in catalytic processes is illustrated by examples from Solvias' process development.

Aerogels-Airy Materials: Chemistry, Structure, and Properties.
Nicola Hüsing,Ulrich S. Schubert +1 more
TL;DR: The design of such a filigrane network requires the very careful control of chemical parameters and the reward is an assortment of different property profiles owing to the richness of possible variations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structures of metal sites of oxidized bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase at 2.8 A
Tomitake Tsukihara,Hiroshi Aoyama,Eiki Yamashita,Takashi Tomizaki,Hiroshi Yamaguchi,Kyoko Shinzawa-Itoh,Ryosuke Nakashima,Rieko Yaono,Shinya Yoshikawa +8 more
TL;DR: The high resolution three-dimensional x-ray structure of the metal sites of bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase is reported, suggesting a dinuclear copper center with an unexpected structure similar to a [2Fe-2S]-type iron-sulfur center.
Journal ArticleDOI
Homogeneous Hydrogenation of Carbon Dioxide
TL;DR: In this article, the simplest and most studied reactions of CO{sub 2} are the catalytic reactions with H{sub 1} in the presence or absence of other reactive species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Reactions at supercritical conditions: Applications and fundamentals
TL;DR: A review of chemical reactions in and with supercritical fluids can be found in this paper, where the authors discuss both fundamental studies and applications of reactions at supercritical conditions, with focus on work published after 1985.
