Heterogeneous strong base catalysis in supercritical carbon dioxide by mesoporous alumina and sulfated mesoporous alumina
Tsunetake Seki,Makoto Onaka +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the development of solid strong base catalysts utilizable in green but acidic medium of scCO2 is reviewed, showing that the strong base sites on mesoporous alumina and sulfated mesoporic alumina that had been generated by severe treatment at 773 K under vacuum (10−4 Torr) were not neutralized by the compressed Lewis acidic molecules of CO2, promoting a representative strong base-catalyzed reaction of the Tishchenko reaction as well as a typical base catalyzed reaction in sc CO2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Catalytic synthesis of fatty acid methyl esters from Madhuca indica oil in supercritical methanol
TL;DR: In this article, Fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) were synthesized by transesterification of a non-edible oil (Mahua, Madhuca indica) in supercritical methanol with a wide variety of oxides.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prolonging catalyst lifetime in supercritical isomerization of 1-hexene over a platinum/alumina catalyst
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of experiments were carried out for the isomerization of 1-hexene in the temperature range 200 − 300 ∘ C and pressure range 10 − 100 bar, representing operating points both above and below the critical point of 1hexene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of supercritical conditions upon catalyst deactivation in the hydrogenation of naphthalene
TL;DR: In this article, the effect of operating under sub-and supercritical conditions was investigated at temperatures 250-300°C and pressures 20-90 bar for cyclohexane solvent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Particle-size Effects of Activated Carbon-supported Rhodium Catalysts on Hydrogenation of Naphthalene in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide Solvent
Norihito Hiyoshi,Chandrashekhar V. Rode,Osamu Sato,Yoshio Masuda,Aritomo Yamaguchi,Masayuki Shirai +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, Naphthalene hydrogenation over activated carbon-supported rhodium metal particles having dispersion between 10 and 30% was studied; the turnover frequencies increased with decreasing dispersion in

Aerogels-Airy Materials: Chemistry, Structure, and Properties.
Nicola Hüsing,Ulrich S. Schubert +1 more
TL;DR: The design of such a filigrane network requires the very careful control of chemical parameters and the reward is an assortment of different property profiles owing to the richness of possible variations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structures of metal sites of oxidized bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase at 2.8 A
Tomitake Tsukihara,Hiroshi Aoyama,Eiki Yamashita,Takashi Tomizaki,Hiroshi Yamaguchi,Kyoko Shinzawa-Itoh,Ryosuke Nakashima,Rieko Yaono,Shinya Yoshikawa +8 more
TL;DR: The high resolution three-dimensional x-ray structure of the metal sites of bovine heart cytochrome c oxidase is reported, suggesting a dinuclear copper center with an unexpected structure similar to a [2Fe-2S]-type iron-sulfur center.
Journal ArticleDOI
Homogeneous Hydrogenation of Carbon Dioxide
TL;DR: In this article, the simplest and most studied reactions of CO{sub 2} are the catalytic reactions with H{sub 1} in the presence or absence of other reactive species.

Reactions at supercritical conditions: Applications and fundamentals
TL;DR: A review of chemical reactions in and with supercritical fluids can be found in this paper, where the authors discuss both fundamental studies and applications of reactions at supercritical conditions, with focus on work published after 1985.
