TLDR
The synthesis of the complex-type oligosaccharide unit of the vesicular stomatitis virus G protein is initiated by the en bloc transfer of a high molecular weight oligosACcharide from a lipid carrier to the nascent polypeptide.

Transformation-dependent alterations in the oligosaccharides of Prague C Rous sarcoma virus glycoproteins.

TL;DR: The influence of cell transformation on the glycosylation of viral envelope glycoproteins was examined by high-resolution gel filtration and specific glycosidase digestions of 3H-sugar-labeled glycopeptides from nondefective and transformation-defective Prague C strains of Rous sarcoma virus replicated in fibroblasts from the same chicken embryo as discussed by the authors.

Two glycosylation sites on the N‐terminal segment of porcine pars distalis pro‐opiomelanocortin

TL;DR: Pulse-chase experiments in rat pars intermedia as well as in mouse AtT-20 tumor cells showed that the N-terminal fragment of proopiomelanocortin does not mature appreciably, which could mean that it would be possible to isolate from pituitary extracts this N-Terminal fragment in sufficient amounts to be completely characterized.

Solubilization of oligosaccharide tranferase and glucosidase activities from thyroid rough microsomes

- 05 May 1980 -
TL;DR: This paper examines the conditions which allow total extraction of the enzyme from membranes while maintaining full activity and points out that the oligosaccharide transferase is extracted together with two glucosidases of distinct specificities.

Sindbis virus glycoproteins acquire unusual neutral oligosaccharides in both normal and lectin-resistant Chinese Hamster ovary cell lines.

TL;DR: Unusual small neutral-type structures were present in the virion and cell-associated viral glycoproteins from all three CHO host cell lines, but not detected in significant quantities in the cell membrane gly coproteins of the uninfected cells or the glycoprotein of VSV grown in the same host cell Lines.

Detection of sugars on paper chromatograms.

W E Trevelyan, +2 more
- 09 Sep 1950 -
TL;DR: Modifications are introduced, based on a test given by Feigl for reducing sugars, which eliminate the heating step, and in which the reagents are applied in organic solvents, thus removing the danger of migration of the sugar spots.

Determination of aminosugar linkages in glycolipids by methylation: Aminosugar linkages of ceramide pentasaccharides of rabbit erythrocytes and of Forssman antigen☆

TL;DR: This method was successfully applied to analysis of aminosugar linkages in blood group B-active ceramide pentasaccharide from rabbit erythrocytes and in Forssman antigen of equine spleen.

Structural studies of two ovalbumin glycopeptides in relation to the endo-beta-N-acetylglucosaminidase specificity.

TL;DR: The presence of the unsubstituted alpha-mannosyl residue linked at the C-3 position of the terminal mannose of Manbeta1 leads to 4 GlcNAcAsn core must be essential for the action of the enzyme.
