TLDR
The synthesis of the complex-type oligosaccharide unit of the vesicular stomatitis virus G protein is initiated by the en bloc transfer of a high molecular weight oligosACcharide from a lipid carrier to the nascent polypeptide.

Asparagine-linked glycoprotein biosynthesis in rat brain: Identification of glucosidase I, glucosidase II, and an endomannosidase (glucosyl mannosidase)☆

TL;DR: It is indicated that the brain, like other tissues, contains glucosidases I and II, and an endo enzyme (glucosyl mannosidase) in rat brain is characterized, which appears to be an intrinsic microsomal membrane component.

Crystal Structure and Functional Analyses of the Lectin Domain of Glucosidase II: Insights into Oligomannose Recognition

TL;DR: Comparing ligand-bound and unbound structures reveals no major difference in their overall fold, but rather a repositioning of side chains throughout the binding pocket, including Y372, demonstrating an important role for Y372 in regulating GII activity.

Synthesis of an octasaccharide fragment of high-mannose-type glycans of glycoproteins.

TL;DR: Crucial glycosylation of trisaccharide intermediate, benzyl O-(2,4-di-O-benzyl-beta-D-mannopyranosyl)-(1----4)-O-(2-acetamido-3,6-di -O- benzyl-2-deoxy-beta
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of brefeldin A on the synthesis and secretion of egg white proteins in primary cultured oviduct cells of laying Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica).

TL;DR: The results suggest that the conversion of high-mannose-type oligosaccharides to hybrid-type ones, which is not usually observed in mammalian species but only in avian oviduct tissues, proceeds between the Golgi complex and the endoplasmic reticulum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biosynthesis of the major human red cell sialoglycoprotein, glycophorin A: A review

TL;DR: The human leukemia cell line K562 is erythroid and expresses the major red cell sialoglycoprotein, glycophorin A, and the biosynthesis of glycophOrin A after pulse-chase labeling with [35S] methionine is studied.

Detection of sugars on paper chromatograms.

W E Trevelyan, +2 more
- 09 Sep 1950 -
TL;DR: Modifications are introduced, based on a test given by Feigl for reducing sugars, which eliminate the heating step, and in which the reagents are applied in organic solvents, thus removing the danger of migration of the sugar spots.
