Using Self-Report Assessment Methods to Explore Facets of Mindfulness

Mindfulness facets were shown to be differentially correlated in expected ways with several other constructs and to have incremental validity in the prediction of psychological symptoms.
Abstract
The authors examine the facet structure of mindfulness using five recently developed mindfulness questionnaires. Two large samples of undergraduate students completed mindfulness questionnaires and measures of other constructs. Psychometric properties of the mindfulness questionnaires were examined, including internal consistency and convergent and discriminant relationships with other variables. Factor analyses of the combined pool of items from the mindfulness questionnaires suggested that collectively they contain five clear, interpretable facets of mindfulness. Hierarchical confirmatory factor analyses suggested that at least four of the identified factors are components of an overall mindfulness construct and that the factor structure of mindfulness may vary with meditation experience. Mindfulness facets were shown to be differentially correlated in expected ways with several other constructs and to have incremental validity in the prediction of psychological symptoms. Findings suggest that conceptualizing mindfulness as a multifaceted construct is helpful in understanding its components and its relationships with other variables.

Mindfulness-based interventions in the workplace: An inclusive systematic review and meta-analysis of their impact upon wellbeing

TL;DR: In this article, a meta-analytic procedure was conducted on 35 randomized controlled trials derived from an earlier inclusive systematic literature search (covering all occupations, MBIs, and wellbeing-related outcomes).

Mindfulness Training for Teachers Changes the Behavior of Their Preschool Students

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of preschool teachers attending an 8-week mindfulness course on the behavior of the students in their classroom were measured and found that decreases in challenging behaviors and increases in their compliance with teacher requests began during mindfulness training for the teachers and continued to change following the training.

Development and preliminary validation of a trait version of the toronto mindfulness scale

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a trait version of the Toronto Mindfulness Scale (TMS) and evaluated its reliability, its convergent validity with six other trait mindfulness measures, and its construct validity in relation to prior meditation experience.

Relationships Between Boredom Proneness, Mindfulness, Anxiety, Depression, and Substance Use

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the relationship between mindfulness (the ability to attend to the immediate environment) and boredom proneness and negative outcomes such as anxiety, depression, and substance use.

Mindfulness-based training interventions for employees: A qualitative review of the literature

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive qualitative review of 67 published studies that have examined mindfulness-based training interventions conducted with employees is provided, which indicates that the most common research designs were the pre-test/post-test only design (35.8%) and the randomized waitlist control group design (26.9%).

Alternative Ways of Assessing Model Fit

TL;DR: In this paper, two types of error involved in fitting a model are considered, error of approximation and error of fit, where the first involves the fit of the model, and the second involves the model's shape.

Comparative fit indexes in structural models

TL;DR: A new coefficient is proposed to summarize the relative reduction in the noncentrality parameters of two nested models and two estimators of the coefficient yield new normed (CFI) and nonnormed (FI) fit indexes.

The Benefits of Being Present: Mindfulness and Its Role in Psychological Well-Being

TL;DR: Correlational, quasi-experimental, and laboratory studies show that the MAAS measures a unique quality of consciousness that is related to a variety of well-being constructs, that differentiates mindfulness practitioners from others, and that is associated with enhanced self-awareness.
