Mindfulness facets were shown to be differentially correlated in expected ways with several other constructs and to have incremental validity in the prediction of psychological symptoms.
Abstract
The authors examine the facet structure of mindfulness using five recently developed mindfulness questionnaires. Two large samples of undergraduate students completed mindfulness questionnaires and measures of other constructs. Psychometric properties of the mindfulness questionnaires were examined, including internal consistency and convergent and discriminant relationships with other variables. Factor analyses of the combined pool of items from the mindfulness questionnaires suggested that collectively they contain five clear, interpretable facets of mindfulness. Hierarchical confirmatory factor analyses suggested that at least four of the identified factors are components of an overall mindfulness construct and that the factor structure of mindfulness may vary with meditation experience. Mindfulness facets were shown to be differentially correlated in expected ways with several other constructs and to have incremental validity in the prediction of psychological symptoms. Findings suggest that conceptualizing mindfulness as a multifaceted construct is helpful in understanding its components and its relationships with other variables.

Effects of Mindfulness Training on Cognition and Well-Being in Healthy Older Adults

TL;DR: In this paper, the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction on improving executive function and episodic memory in older adults was investigated, and it was hypothesized that compared with the control group, the MBSR group would display significant improvements in measures of executive function, episodic memories, mindfulness, mood, self-esteem, and quality of life.

Strengthening Teacher Presence Through Mindfulness: What Educators Say About the Cultivating Awareness and Resilience in Education (CARE) Program

TL;DR: The authors investigated how participants applied mindfulness strategies learned through the mindfulness-based intervention CARE to support school personnel experiencing stress and burnout, and found that participants reported shifting their emotional reactivity and approach to students by applying mindfulness through present-centered awareness of emotions, emotional reappraisal of situations, and use of metaphors introduced through the CARE program.

Alternative Ways of Assessing Model Fit

TL;DR: In this paper, two types of error involved in fitting a model are considered, error of approximation and error of fit, where the first involves the fit of the model, and the second involves the model's shape.

Comparative fit indexes in structural models

TL;DR: A new coefficient is proposed to summarize the relative reduction in the noncentrality parameters of two nested models and two estimators of the coefficient yield new normed (CFI) and nonnormed (FI) fit indexes.

The Benefits of Being Present: Mindfulness and Its Role in Psychological Well-Being

TL;DR: Correlational, quasi-experimental, and laboratory studies show that the MAAS measures a unique quality of consciousness that is related to a variety of well-being constructs, that differentiates mindfulness practitioners from others, and that is associated with enhanced self-awareness.
