Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment of preschool children presenting to the emergency department with wheeze with azithromycin: A placebo-controlled randomized trial
Piush J. Mandhane,Patricia Paredes Zambrano de Silbernagel,Yin Nwe Aung,Yin Nwe Aung,Janie Williamson,Bonita E. Lee,Sheldon Spier,Mary Noseworthy,William Craig,David W. Johnson +9 more
TL;DR: Azithromycin neither reduced duration of respiratory symptoms nor time to respiratory exacerbation in the following six months after treatment among wheezing preschool children presenting to an emergency department and there was no significant effect among children with either first-time or prior wheeze.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of estimated GFR reporting on late referral rates and practice patterns for end-stage kidney disease patients: a multilevel logistic regression analysis using the Australia and New Zealand Dialysis and Transplant Registry (ANZDATA).
Celine Foote,Celine Foote,Philip A. Clayton,Philip A. Clayton,David W. Johnson,Meg Jardine,Meg Jardine,Paul Snelling,Alan Cass +8 more
TL;DR: eGFR reporting was associated with small reductions in late referral, but more than 1 in 5 patients are still referred late, and there was no impact on initial RRT modality or prepared access rates at hemodialysis therapy initiation between eras.
Journal ArticleDOI
In-plane structure of ferecrystalline compounds
TL;DR: In this paper, the in-plane structures of misfit layer compounds and ferecrystals are compared, and it is shown that the weaker registration between the subunits in FLC allows the synthesis of a wider variety of compounds, varying both the range of constituents, their mismatch and their thicknesses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification of glutamine in dried blood spots and plasma by tandem mass spectrometry for the biochemical diagnosis and monitoring of ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency
Minh-Uyen Trinh,Jennifer Blake,J. Rodney Harrison,Rosemarie Gerace,Enzo Ranieri,Janice M. Fletcher,Janice M. Fletcher,David W. Johnson +7 more
TL;DR: A notable deficiency in the use of tandem mass spectrometry for newborn screening is the inability to screen for urea cycle defects, so measurements of glutamic and pyroglutamic acids in blood spots after derivatization are grossly inaccurate.
Journal ArticleDOI
Seasonal variation in peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis: a multi-centre registry study
Yeoungjee Cho,Sunil V. Badve,Carmel M. Hawley,Stephen P. McDonald,Fiona G. Brown,Neil Boudville,Kathryn J. Wiggins,Kym M. Bannister,Philip A. Clayton,David W. Johnson +9 more
TL;DR: Significant seasonal variations were observed in the rates of peritonitis due to specific microorganisms, which may allow institutions to more precisely target infection control strategies prior to higher risk seasons.
