Subgroup-specific structural variation across 1,000 medulloblastoma genomes

Paul A. Northcott, +139 more
- 02 Aug 2012 -
TL;DR: Somatic copy number aberrations (SCNAs) in 1,087 unique medulloblastomas are reported, including recurrent events targeting TGF-β signalling in Group 3, and NF-κB signalling in Groups 4, which suggest future avenues for rational, targeted therapy.
Reference EntryDOI

Different anthracycline derivates for reducing cardiotoxicity in cancer patients

TL;DR: Based on the currently available evidence on heart failure, it is concluded that in adults with a solid tumour liposomal-encapsulated doxorubicin should be favoured over doxorbicin in cancer patients, and no conclusions can be made about the effects of treatment in children treated with anthracyclines and not in patients diagnosed with leukaemia.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cytogenetic Prognostication Within Medulloblastoma Subgroups

David Shih, +95 more
TL;DR: A small panel of cytogenetic biomarkers is identified that reliably identifies very high-risk and very low-risk groups of patients, making it an excellent tool for selecting patients for therapy intensification and therapy de-escalation in future clinical trials.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biological background of pediatric medulloblastoma and ependymoma: a review from a translational research perspective.

TL;DR: Increased knowledge about the genetic and biological features of these tumors is being obtained and might be useful to further improve outcome for these patients, including medulloblastomas and ependymomas.
Journal ArticleDOI

Parents' Experiences of Pediatric Palliative Care and the Impact on Long-Term Parental Grief

TL;DR: Both interaction with health care professionals, especially communication and continuity of care, and symptom management in children dying of cancer are associated with long-term parental grief levels.
