Reciprocal regulatory effects of IL-4 on cell growth and immunoglobulin production in Ig-secreting human B-cell lines

TL;DR: On Ig-secreting human B-cell lines, IL-4 regulates cell proliferation and Ig production in a reciprocal fashion, and increased Ig levels in culture supernatants reflected both an enhancement of single-cell Ig production as well as an increase in numbers of Ig- Secreting B cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Change In Hl-a Phenotype Associated With A Specific Blocking Factor In The Serum Of An Infant With Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease

TL;DR: An infant with severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID) underwent change in HL-A phenotype between the ages of 6 and 9 months, which may be attributed to the catabolic removal from the patient's serum of a placentally acquired noncytotoxic (blocking) specific HL- A1 factor.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel ATM mutation associated with elevated atypical lymphocyte populations, hyper-IgM, and cutaneous granulomas.

TL;DR: A patient presented with ataxia-telangiectasia, cutaneous granulomas, and a hyper-IgM phenotype; a novel combination of mutations in the ATM gene was associated with abnormal distributions, frequencies, and function of T and B lymphocyte subsets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential Usage of δ Recombining Element and Vδ Genes During T-Cell Ontogeny

TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the usage of the δ recombining element (δRec) and six Vδ genes in cell samples from 15 patients with CD3- and 10 patients with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia in an attempt to define the hierarchy of genetic events that is associated with the Tcell receptor (TCR) a/8 gene complex.

Modulation of gamma delta T cells to regulate airway hyperresponsiveness

TL;DR: In this paper, a method for regulation of airway hyperresponsiveness by modulating the action of γδ T cells in a patient was proposed, and methods for identifying compounds that regulate airway hypersresponsiveness with respect to T cell action were identified.
