The Ionised- and Cool-Gas Content of The BR1202-0725 System as seen by MUSE and ALMA
Alyssa B. Drake,Fabian Walter,Mario Novak,E. Farina,Marcel Neeleman,Dominik Riechers,Chris Carilli,Roberto Decarli,Chiara Mazzucchelli,M. Onoue +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, MUSE observations of the gas-rich major-merger BR1202-0725 at z~4.7 were used to compare and contrast the spatially resolved ionised and cool-gas content of this system which hosts a quasar (QSO), a sub-millimeter galaxy (SMG), the two known optical companions ("LAE1", "LAE2"), and an additional companion discovered in this work "LaE3" just 5 arcsec to the North of the QSO.
Journal ArticleDOI
Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array observations of cold dust and molecular gas in starbursting quasar host galaxies at z~4.5
Jeff Wagg,Jeff Wagg,Chris Carilli,Chris Carilli,Manuel Aravena,Manuel Aravena,Pierre Cox,Lindley Lentati,Roberto Maiolino,Richard G. McMahon,Dominik A. Riechers,Fabian Walter,Paola Andreani,Richard Hills,Arthur M. Wolfe +14 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) observations of 44 GHz continuum and CO J=2-1 line emission in BR1202-0725 at z = 4.7 (a starburst galaxy and quasar pair) and BRI1335-0417 at z=4.4 (also hosting a quasar).
Journal ArticleDOI
COLDz: Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array discovery of a gas-rich galaxy in COSMOS
L. Lentati,Jeff Wagg,Chris Carilli,Dominik Riechers,Peter Capak,Fabian Walter,Manuel Aravena,E. da Cunha,Jacqueline Hodge,Rob Ivison,Ian Smail,Chelsea E. Sharon,Emanuele Daddi,Roberto Decarli,Mark Dickinson,Mark Sargent,Nick Scoville,V. Smolcic +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, a gas-rich, star-forming galaxy at z = 2.48 was discovered through the detection of CO(1-0) line emission in the COLDz survey, through a sensitive, Ka-band (31 to 39 GHz) VLA survey of a 6.5 square arcminute region of the COSMOS field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Smooth HI Low Column Density Outskirts in Nearby Galaxies
Roger Ianjamasimanana,Fabian Walter,W. J. G. de Blok,W. J. G. de Blok,George Heald,Elias Brinks +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an author-created, un-copyedited version of an article published in The Astronomical Journal is presented, which is available online at https://doi.org/10.3847/1538-3881/aabbaa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Smooth HI Low Column Density Outskirts In Nearby Galaxies
Roger Ianjamasimanana,Fabian Walter,W. J. G. de Blok,W. J. G. de Blok,George Heald,Elias Brinks +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors study the azimuthally-averaged column density profiles of 17 nearby galaxies from The HI Nearby Galaxy Survey (THINGS) and supplemented in two cases with published Hydrogen Accretion in LOcal GAlaxieS (HALOGAS) data.
