Letrozole versus Clomiphene for Infertility in the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Richard S. Legro,Robert G. Brzyski,Michael P. Diamond,Christos Coutifaris,William D. Schlaff,Peter Casson,Gregory M. Christman,Hao Huang,Qingshang Yan,Ruben Alvero,Daniel J. Haisenleder,Kurt T. Barnhart,G. Wright Bates,Rebecca S. Usadi,Scott Lucidi,Valerie L. Baker,J. C. Trussell,Stephen A. Krawetz,Peter J. Snyder,Dana A. Ohl,Nanette Santoro,Esther Eisenberg,Heping Zhang +22 more
TL;DR: Letrozole was associated with higher live-birth and ovulation rates among infertile women with the polycystic ovary syndrome and with higher incidences of fatigue and dizziness compared with clomiphene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide association of polycystic ovary syndrome implicates alterations in gonadotropin secretion in European ancestry populations
M. Geoffrey Hayes,Margrit Urbanek,David A. Ehrmann,Loren L. Armstrong,Ji Young Lee,Ryan Sisk,Tugce Karaderi,Thomas M. Barber,Mark I. McCarthy,Stephen Franks,Cecilia M. Lindgren,Cecilia M. Lindgren,Corrine K. Welt,Evanthia Diamanti-Kandarakis,Dimitrios Panidis,Mark O. Goodarzi,Ricardo Azziz,Yi Zhang,Roland James,Michael Olivier,Ahmed H. Kissebah,Elisabet Stener-Victorin,Richard S. TL;DR: Common genetic susceptibility loci in European ancestry women for the National Institutes of Health PCOS phenotype are identified, which confers the highest risk for metabolic morbidities, as well as reproductive hormone levels, and implicate neuroendocrine changes in disease pathogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Letrozole, Gonadotropin, or Clomiphene for Unexplained Infertility
Michael P. Diamond,Richard S. Legro,Christos Coutifaris,Ruben Alvero,Randal D. Robinson,Peter Casson,Gregory M. Christman,Joel W. Ager,Hao Huang,Karl R. Hansen,Valerie L. Baker,Rebecca S. Usadi,Aimee Seungdamrong,G.W. Bates,R. M. Rosen,Daniel J. Haisenleder,Stephen A. Krawetz,Kurt T. Barnhart,J. C. Trussell,Dana A. Ohl,Yufeng Jin,Nanette Santoro,Esther Eisenberg,Heping Zhang +23 more
TL;DR: In women with unexplained infertility, ovarian stimulation with letrozole resulted in a significantly lower frequency of multiple gestation but also a higher frequency of live birth, as compared with gonadotropin but not asCompared with clomiphene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neuromedin B and gastrin-releasing peptide excite arcuate nucleus neuropeptide Y neurons in a novel transgenic mouse expressing strong Renilla green fluorescent protein in NPY neurons.
Anthony N. van den Pol,Yang Yao,Li-Ying Fu,Kylie S. Foo,Hao Huang,Roberto Coppari,Bradford B. Lowell,Christian Broberger +7 more
TL;DR: Two mechanisms, activation of nonselective cation channels and the sodium/calcium exchanger are suggested, which may function to initiate broad activation, rather than the cell-type selective activation or inhibition reported for many other compounds that modulate energy homeostasis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prefrontal Cortex–Projecting Glutamatergic Thalamic Paraventricular Nucleus-Excited by Hypocretin: A Feedforward Circuit That May Enhance Cognitive Arousal
TL;DR: The robust excitation evoked by HcrT-2 on cortically projecting glutamate PVT neurons could generate substantial excitation in multiple layers of the mPFC, adding to the more selective direct excitatory actions of Hcrt in the mFFC and potentially increasing cortical arousal and attention to limbic or visceral states.
