Infant cognition: Going full factorial with pupil dilation
Iain Jackson,Sylvain Sirois +1 more
TL;DR: This illustrative study demonstrates the value of factorial designs, in which perceptual and conceptual variables are independently and jointly explored, and introduces pupil dilation as a viable and complementary dependent measure to study infant cognition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantifying sources of variability in infancy research using the infant-directed-speech preference

TL;DR: In this paper, a large-scale, multisite study aimed at assessing the overall replicability of a single theoretically important phenomenon and examining methodological, cultural, and developmental moderators was conducted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Social cognition in infancy: A critical review of research on higher order abilities
Sylvain Sirois,Iain Jackson +1 more
TL;DR: This paper reviewed early precursors to social cognition in infancy, and critically reviewed infancy work suggesting goal attribution to human agents in the first year of life and theory of mind (ToM) abilities (assessed through a modified false belief task) in the second year.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pupil Dilation and Object Permanence in Infants.
Sylvain Sirois,Iain Jackson +1 more
TL;DR: Overall, the results fail to support object permanence in 10-month-olds, and pupil dilation provides a much finer-grained interpretation of infants' information processing, relative to looking time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Perceived Audio Quality of Sounds Degraded by Non-linear Distortions and Single-Ended Assessment Using HASQI
TL;DR: In this article, a single-ended decision tree based method was proposed to detect nonlinear distortions caused by clipping and limiting at pre-amplification stages, and dynamic range control (DRC) are common causes of poor audio quality.
