Mapping genomic loci implicates genes and synaptic biology in schizophrenia

Vassily Trubetskoy, +432 more
- 08 Apr 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , a two-stage genome-wide association study of up to 76,755 individuals with schizophrenia and 243,649 control individuals was conducted, and the authors reported common variant associations at 287 distinct genomic loci.
Journal ArticleDOI

Causative role of oxidative stress in a Drosophila model of Friedreich ataxia

TL;DR: It is proposed that in FA, the oxidative mediated inactivation of aconitase, which occurs normally during the aging process, is enhanced due to the lack of frataxin, and an important role of oxidative stress in the progression of FA is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic stress alters inhibitory networks in the medial prefrontal cortex of adult mice.

TL;DR: The results show that mPFC inhibitory networks are affected by chronic stress and suggest that structural plasticity may be an important feature of stress-related psychiatric disorders where this cortical region, specially their GABAergic system, is altered.
Journal ArticleDOI

FOXP2 gene and language impairment in schizophrenia: association and epigenetic studies

TL;DR: FOXP2 might be involved in the language disorder in patients with schizophrenia, and Epigenetic factors might be also implicated in the developing of this disorder.
