TL;DR: These preliminary findings suggest that stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus may reduce the symptoms of severe forms of OCD but is associated with a substantial risk of serious adverse events.
Journal ArticleDOI
A unified connectomic target for deep brain stimulation in obsessive-compulsive disorder
Ningfei Li,Juan Carlos Baldermann,Astrid Kibleur,Svenja Treu,Harith Akram,Gavin J B Elias,Alexandre Boutet,Alexandre Boutet,Andres M. Lozano,Bassam Al-Fatly,Bryan A. Strange,Juan A. Barcia,Ludvic Zrinzo,Eileen M. Joyce,Stephan Chabardes,Veerle Visser-Vandewalle,Mircea Polosan,Mircea Polosan,Jens Kuhn,Andrea A. Kühn,Andreas Horn +20 more
TL;DR: Structural connectivity of deep brain stimulation electrodes in 50 patients suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder operated at four centers showed connectivity to a specific tract within the anterior limb of the internal capsule was associated with optimal treatment response across cohorts, surgeons and centers.
Journal ArticleDOI
An exoskeleton controlled by an epidural wireless brain-machine interface in a tetraplegic patient: a proof-of-concept demonstration.
Alim-Louis Benabid,Thomas Costecalde,Andrey Eliseyev,Guillaume Charvet,Alexandre Verney,Serpil Karakas,M. Foerster,Aurélien Lambert,Boris Morinière,Neil Abroug,Marie-Caroline Schaeffer,Alexandre Moly,Fabien Sauter-Starace,David Ratel,Cécile Moro,Napoleon Torres-Martinez,Lilia Langar,Manuela Oddoux,Mircea Polosan,Stephane Pezzani,Vincent Auboiroux,Tetiana Aksenova,Corinne Mestais,Stephan Chabardes +23 more
TL;DR: These results showed long-term activation of a four-limb neuroprosthetic exoskeleton by a complete brain-machine interface system using continuous, online epidural ECoG to decode brain activity in a tetraplegic patient.
Journal ArticleDOI
