Volatile and organic compositions of sedimentary rocks in Yellowknife Bay, Gale crater, Mars.

Douglas W. Ming, +442 more
- 24 Jan 2014 -
TL;DR: Higher abundances of chlorinated hydrocarbons in the mudstone compared with Rocknest windblown materials previously analyzed by Curiosity suggest that indigenous martian or meteoritic organic carbon sources may be preserved in the Mudstone; however, the carbon source for the chlorinatedHydrocarbons is not definitively of martian origin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Properties of Rubble-Pile Asteroid (101955) Bennu from OSIRIS-REx Imaging and Thermal Analysis

Daniella DellaGiustina, +57 more
- 19 Mar 2019 -
TL;DR: Using images and thermal data from NASA's Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft, this paper showed that asteroid (101955) Bennu's surface is globally rough, dense with boulders, and low in albedo.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variations in color and reflectance on the surface of asteroid (101955) Bennu

TL;DR: Maps of color and albedo on asteroid Bennu indicate complex evolution of its surface due to space weathering, and constrain Bennu's evolution and provide context for the sample collected in October 2020.
