TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed an enhanced ICN-IoT content caching strategy by enabling artificial intelligence (AI)-based collaborative filtering within the edge cloud to support heterogeneous IoT architecture.
Abstract: The substantial advancements offered by the edge computing has indicated serious evolutionary improvements for the internet of things (IoT) technology. The rigid design philosophy of the traditional network architecture limits its scope to meet future demands. However, information centric networking (ICN) is envisioned as a promising architecture to bridge the huge gaps and maintain IoT networks, mostly referred as ICN-IoT. The edge-enabled ICN-IoT architecture always demands efficient in-network caching techniques for supporting better user's quality of experience (QoE). In this paper, we propose an enhanced ICN-IoT content caching strategy by enabling artificial intelligence (AI)-based collaborative filtering within the edge cloud to support heterogeneous IoT architecture. This collaborative filtering-based content caching strategy would intelligently cache content on edge nodes for traffic management at cloud databases. The evaluations has been conducted to check the performance of the proposed strategy over various benchmark strategies, such as LCE, LCD, CL4M, and ProbCache. The analytical results demonstrate the better performance of our proposed strategy with average gain of 15% for cache hit ratio, 12% reduction in content retrieval delay, and 28% reduced average hop count in comparison to best considered LCD. We believe that the proposed strategy will contribute an effective solution to the related studies in this domain.

TL;DR: A novel IoT-train-deep approach for intelligent software-defined networking is designed, and it illustrates significant improvements with respect to delay, throughput, storage space, and accuracy.
Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) has emerged as a revolution for the design of smart applications like intelligent transportation systems, smart grid, healthcare 4.0, Industry 4.0, and many more. These smart applications are dependent on the faster delivery of data which can be used to extract their inherent patterns for further decision making. However, the enormous data generated by IoT devices are sufficient to choke the entire underlying network infrastructure. Most of the data attributes present little or no relevance to the prospective relationships and associations with the projected benefits foreseen. Therefore, order-based generalization mechanisms, known as tensors, can be used to represent these multidimensional data, thereby minimizing the flow table (FT) lookup time and reducing the storage occupancy. So, a novel IoT-train-deep approach for intelligent software-defined networking is designed in this article. The proposed approach works in four phases: 1) tensor representation; 2) deep Boltzmann machine-based classification; 3) subtensor-based flow matching process; and 4) incremental tensor train network for FT synchronization. The proposed model has been extensively tested, and it illustrates significant improvements with respect to delay, throughput, storage space, and accuracy.

TL;DR: In this article, the machining of aluminium metal matrix composite (MMC) material reinforced with SiC particles has been identified as typical process with traditional machining process and the optimal settings of various input variables have been identified for quality characteristics.
Abstract: The machining of aluminium metal matrix composite (MMC) material reinforced with SiC particles has been identified as typical process with traditional machining process. In the present study, curve cutting has been performed on the MMC material using CO2 laser cutting system. The investigations have been carried out to identify the thermal effects of SiC particles on surface roughness and kerf deviation. To optimize the quality characteristics, the response surface model is formulated using desirability functional approach. The optimal settings of various input variables have been identified for quality characteristics. The input parameters like cutting speed, reinforced particles and arc radius have been examined as significant factors. The adequacy of predicted response surface model was verified by performing the set of experiments and predicted error percentage method. The formation of recast layer and new phase Al4C3 was detected using SEM and XRD plot, respectively.

TL;DR: A learning automata-assisted distributive intrusion detection system is designed based on clustering that yields an improvement of 10 % in detection rate of malicious nodes when compared with the existing schemes.
Abstract: In recent years, vehicular cloud computing (VCC) has emerged as a new technology which is being used in wide range of applications in the area of multimedia-based healthcare applications. In VCC, vehicles act as the intelligent machines which can be used to collect and transfer the healthcare data to the local, or global sites for storage, and computation purposes, as vehicles are having comparatively limited storage and computation power for handling the multimedia files. However, due to the dynamic changes in topology, and lack of centralized monitoring points, this information can be altered, or misused. These security breaches can result in disastrous consequences such as-loss of life or financial frauds. Therefore, to address these issues, a learning automata-assisted distributive intrusion detection system is designed based on clustering. Although there exist a number of applications where the proposed scheme can be applied but, we have taken multimedia-based healthcare application for illustration of the proposed scheme. In the proposed scheme, learning automata (LA) are assumed to be stationed on the vehicles which take clustering decisions intelligently and select one of the members of the group as a cluster-head. The cluster-heads then assist in efficient storage and dissemination of information through a cloud-based infrastructure. To secure the proposed scheme from malicious activities, standard cryptographic technique is used in which the auotmaton learns from the environment and takes adaptive decisions for identification of any malicious activity in the network. A reward and penalty is given by the stochastic environment where an automaton performs its actions so that it updates its action probability vector after getting the reinforcement signal from the environment. The proposed scheme was evaluated using extensive simulations on ns-2 with SUMO. The results obtained indicate that the proposed scheme yields an improvement of 10 % in detection rate of malicious nodes when compared with the existing schemes.
