01 Oct 1999TL;DR: The observer-based output feedback control law and update law to tune on-line the weighting factors of the adaptive fuzzy-neural controller are derived and the overall adaptive scheme guarantees that all signals involved are bounded.
Abstract: In this paper, an observer-based adaptive fuzzy-neural controller for a class of unknown nonlinear dynamical systems is developed. The observer-based output feedback control law and update law to tune on-line the weighting factors of the adaptive fuzzy-neural controller are derived. The total states of the nonlinear system are not assumed to be available for measurement. Also, the unknown nonlinearities of the nonlinear dynamical systems are not restricted to the system output only. The overall adaptive scheme guarantees that all signals involved are bounded. Simulation results demonstrate the applicability of the proposed method in order to achieve desired performance.

TL;DR: This review covers the compositional, structural and morphological aspects of SEI, both artificially and naturally formed, and metallic dendrites using in situ/in operando cells and various in situ analytical tools.
Abstract: Lithium-ion batteries, simply known as lithium batteries, are distinct among high energy density charge-storage devices. The power delivery of batteries depends upon the electrochemical performances and the stability of the electrode, electrolytes and their interface. Interfacial phenomena of the electrode/electrolyte involve lithium dendrite formation, electrolyte degradation and gas evolution, and a semi-solid protective layer formation at the electrode–electrolyte interface, also known as the solid–electrolyte interface (SEI). The SEI protects electrodes from further exfoliation or corrosion and suppresses lithium dendrite formation, which are crucial needs for enhancing the cell performance. This review covers the compositional, structural and morphological aspects of SEI, both artificially and naturally formed, and metallic dendrites using in situ/in operando cells and various in situ analytical tools. Critical challenges and the historical legacy in the development of in situ/in operando electrochemical cells with some reports on state-of-the-art progress are particularly highlighted. The present compilation pinpoints the emerging research opportunities in advancing this field and concludes on the future directions and strategies for in situ/in operando analysis.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a hybrid method, which combines P&O and PSO methods, and the advantage of using the proposed hybrid method is that the search space for the PSO is reduced, and hence, the time that is required for convergence can be greatly improved.
Abstract: Conventional maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods such as perturb-and-observe (P&O) method can only track the first local maximum point and stop progressing to the next maximum point. MPPT methods based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) have been proposed to track the global maximum point (GMP). However, the problem with the PSO method is that the time required for convergence may be long if the range of the search space is large. This paper proposes a hybrid method, which combines P&O and PSO methods. Initially, the P&O method is employed to allocate the nearest local maximum. Then, starting from that point on, the PSO method is employed to search for the GMP. The advantage of using the proposed hybrid method is that the search space for the PSO is reduced, and hence, the time that is required for convergence can be greatly improved. The excellent performance of the proposed hybrid method is verified by comparing it against the PSO method using an experimental setup.

TL;DR: In this article, the selection of process parameters for obtaining an optimal weld pool geometry in the tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding of stainless steel is presented, and the modified Taguchi method is adopted to analyze the effect of each welding process parameter on the weldpool geometry, and then to determine the process parameters with the optimal welding pool geometry.
