Small pancreatic insulinoma: Successful endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation in a single session using a 22-G fine needle

Abstract: A 63-year-old woman, morbidly obese, with clinical symptoms of periodic hypoglycemic episodes, was diagnosed with an insulinoma in pancreatic body that had not been detected by previous computed tomography and magnetic resonance. This neuroendocrine tumour was identified by EUS as a hypoechoic lesion with some iso-hyperechoic tracts, measuring 9 x 10 mm, and 4-5 mm from splenic vessels (Figure 1a). Ecosystem services from urban gardens

Abstract: This chapter examines ecosystem services, understood as the flow of benefits from urban gardens to humans, thereby providing a collection of empirical evidence for their multi-functionality. The concept of ecosystem services is increasingly being used to highlight the links between urban ecosystems and human well-being. Provisioning services describe the physical flow of goods that humans obtain from ecosystems, such as food, fibre and medicinal plants. Provisioning services describe material outputs from ecosystems, including food and other resources. Erosion is mainly prevented by the ground cover and the root systems of vegetation, which stabilizes soil against rainwater runoff, thereby decreasing the risk of floods and landslides. Numerous studies show that biodiversity in Europe has been declining rapidly due to the expansion and intensification of urbanization and modern agriculture. Vegetables and herbs grown in urban gardens are sometimes rare or exotic and difficult to find in shops. Most urban gardens contain wild varieties of plants as well as cultivars.

Simple Distributed Scheduling With Collision Detection in TSCH Networks

Abstract: The IETF IPv6 over the time synchronized channel hopping mode of IEEE 802.15.4e (6TiSCH) working group standardizes a distributed mechanism for neighbor motes to agree on a schedule to communicate, driven by a scheduling function. This letter introduces the notion of housekeeping to the schedule function, in which motes relocate cells in the schedule to build a collision-free schedule in a distribute manner. The solution, based on detecting underperforming cells and listening for unexpected packets, does not require additional signaling traffic or state. This letter shows that simple housekeeping rules introduced allow a network to contain 17% more motes and suffer from 64% fewer collision, while maintaining end-to-end reliability above 99.5% in a typical industrial environment. This solution is now being discussed for standardization at 6TiSCH.
