TL;DR: The key factors that contributed to the development of this successful model for organ donation and transplantation in Croatia are analyzed, primarily the appointment of hospital and national transplant coordinators, implementation of a new financial model with donor hospital reimbursement, public awareness campaign, international cooperation, adoption of new legislation, and Implementation of a donor quality assurance program.
Abstract: During the past ten years, the efforts to improve and organize the national transplantation system in Croatia have resulted in a steadily growing donor rate, which reached its highest level in 2011, with 33.6 utilized donors per million population (p.m.p.). Nowadays, Croatia is one of the leading countries in the world according to deceased donation and transplantation rates. Between 2008 and 2011, the waiting list for kidney transplantation decreased by 37.2% (from 430 to 270 persons waiting for a transplant) and the median waiting time decreased from 46 to 24 months. The Croatian model has been internationally recognized as successful and there are plans for its implementation in other countries. We analyzed the key factors that contributed to the development of this successful model for organ donation and transplantation. These are primarily the appointment of hospital and national transplant coordinators, implementation of a new financial model with donor hospital reimbursement, public awareness campaign, international cooperation, adoption of new legislation, and implementation of a donor quality assurance program. The selection of key factors is based on the authors' opinions ; we are open for further discussion and propose systematic research into the issue.

TL;DR: The results suggest that age-related muscle atrophy is not a general phenomenon, and does not affect all muscles equally, with vastus lateralis muscle being the most affected.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine age-related changes in three human muscles with different function and location in the body. The cross sectional area and the percentage of fibers type I, type IIA and type IIX were studied in vastus lateralis, deltoideus and external intercostal muscle. Muscle samples were obtained from 30 male subjects, aged 20-80 years. Fiber types were defined immunohistochemically, using monoclonal antibodies specific for type I, type IIA and type IIX fibers. Cross sectional area of muscle fibers was analyzed morphometrically by computerized image analysis. All muscle fiber types (I, IIA, IIX) showed the reduction in the fiber size in all three examined muscles. In all muscles the proportion of type I and type IIA was changed, but not in type IIX. With increasing age results showed the increase in proportion of type I, while proportion of type IIA fibers decreased, with vastus lateralis muscle being the most affected. These results suggest that age-related muscle atrophy is not a general phenomenon, and does not affect all muscles equally.

TL;DR: It is shown that the complete monotonicity of the function e α , β γ ( t ; λ ) is proved, as an application of the obtained Laplace type integral representation.
Abstract: In this paper, we derive a Laplace type integral expression for the function e α , β γ ( t ; λ ) defined by e α , β γ ( t ; λ ) ≔ t β − 1 E α , β γ ( − λ t α ) , where E α , β γ ( z ) stands for the generalized three-parameter Mittag–Leffler function occurring in many interesting applied problems involving fractional differential equations. Our result is shown to enable us to extend certain findings by Mainardi (2010) [21] and others. As an application of the obtained Laplace type integral representation, we prove the complete monotonicity of the function e α , β γ ( t ; λ ) . We also establish several related positivity results and some uniform upper bounds for the function e α , β γ ( t ; λ ) .
