Journal ArticleDOI

New triterpene constituents, foliasalacins A(1)-A(4), B(1)-B(3), and C, from the leaves of Salacia chinensis.

TL;DR: The structures of new triterpene constituents (1-8) were characterized on the basis of chemical and physiochemical evidence.
Journal ArticleDOI

An accurate quantitative analysis of polymorphic content by chemometric X-ray powder diffraction.

TL;DR: Data from XRD were subjected to a partial least-squares regression analysis (PLS) to build a calibration model for predicting the polymorphic content of carbamazepine (CBZ), and the results obtained had a better predictive accuracy compared to those of the peak-area method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Screening the biosphere: the fungicolous fungus Trichoderma phellinicola, a prolific source of hypophellins, new 17-, 18-, 19-, and 20-residue peptaibiotics.

TL;DR: To investigate the significance of antibiotics for the producing organism(s) in the natural habitat, a specimen of the fungicolous fungus Trichoderma phellinicola was screened and a particular group of non‐ribosomal antibiotic polypeptides, peptaibiotics, which contain the non‐proteinogenic marker amino acid, α‐aminoisobutyric acid, was biosynthesized by the producer and released into the host.
Journal ArticleDOI

Neoechinulin a impedes the progression of rotenone-induced cytotoxicity in PC12 cells.

TL;DR: It is suggested that neoechinulin A may ameliorate rotenone toxicity by activating a cytoprotective machinery that requires ATP, which paradoxically decreased ATP levels in the cells, suggesting increased ATP consumption.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intermediates in monensin biosynthesis: A late step in biosynthesis of the polyether ionophore monensin is crucial for the integrity of cation binding.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that, as well as ether formation, a late-stage hydroxylation step is crucial for the correct formation of the sodium monensin complex.

Kinetic modeling on drug release from controlled drug delivery systems.

TL;DR: The mathematical modeling can ultimately help to optimize the design of a therapeutic device to yield information on the efficacy of various release models.
Journal ArticleDOI

Dietary phenolics: chemistry, bioavailability and effects on health.

TL;DR: This review summarizes the chemistry, biosynthesis and occurrence of the compounds involved, namely the C6-C3-C6 flavonoids-anthocyanins, dihydrochalcones, Flavan-3-ols, flavanones, flavones, Flavonols and isoflavones, and the mechanisms underlying these processes are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amide bond formation: beyond the myth of coupling reagents

TL;DR: This critical review is focussed on the most recently developed coupling reagents with particular attention paid to the pros and cons of the plethora of "acronym" based reagents.
Journal ArticleDOI

Facile Discrimination of Aldose Enantiomers by Reversed-Phase HPLC

TL;DR: The reaction was applied to the determination of absolute configuration the sugar residues of an aroma precursor and direct HPLC analysis of the reaction mixture and UV detection at 250 nm discriminated D- and L-enantiomers of aldoses.
