TLDR
This paper showed that under forecasted changes in temperature and precipitation, there could be a decline of economically valuable species, which would lead to a loss in the value of European forest land.
Abstract
European forests are threatened by climate change with impacts on the distribution of tree species. Previous discussions on the consequences of biome shifts have concentrated only on ecological issues; however, research now shows that under forecasted changes in temperature and precipitation there could be a decline of economically valuable species, which would lead to a loss in the value of European forest land.

Quantitative evaluation of drought risk related to vegetation productivity in China

TL;DR: Wang et al. as discussed by the authors employed a framework based on long-term (2001-2019) vegetation Gross Primary Productivity and the Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) to quantify drought risk, considering vegetation vulnerability, exposure, and hazard to drought.

Meteorological conditions have a complex effect on the tree-ring width of horse chestnut Aesculus hippocastanum in a forest plantation in Latvia

TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the sensitivity of radial increment of horse chestnut growing in an experimental forest stand in Latvia and the effect of leaf miner moth on it were assessed by classical dendrochronological techniques and multiple regression analysis.

Quantitative analysis of abandonment and grain production loss under armed conflict in Ukraine

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors applied the Sentinel dataset based on the GEE platform to map abandonment in six eastern oblasts and propose a cumulative NDVI (cumNDVI) method to characterize food production loss.

Hutsuls’ perceptions of forests and uses of forest resource in Ukrainian and Romanian Bukovina

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined perceptions of forest and forest resource use among two Hutsul communities in Bukovina sharing a similar cultural background but living in a region divided by the national border created between Romania and Ukraine in the 1940s.

Carpathian mountain forest vegetation and its responses to climate stressors

TL;DR: In this article, the authors describe observed trends and scenarios for summer heat waves, windstorms and heavy precipitation, based on results from satellite time series NOAA AVHRR, MODIS Terra/Aqua and Landsat TM/ETM+/OLI NDVI and LAI data recorded during 2000-2016 period correlated with meteorological parameters, regional climate models, and other downscaling procedures, and discuss potential impacts of climate changes and extreme events on Carpathian mountain forest system in Romania.
