TLDR
This paper showed that under forecasted changes in temperature and precipitation, there could be a decline of economically valuable species, which would lead to a loss in the value of European forest land.Abstract:
European forests are threatened by climate change with impacts on the distribution of tree species. Previous discussions on the consequences of biome shifts have concentrated only on ecological issues; however, research now shows that under forecasted changes in temperature and precipitation there could be a decline of economically valuable species, which would lead to a loss in the value of European forest land.read more

Reactions of three European oak species (Q. robur, Q. petraea and Q. ilex) to repetitive summer drought in sandy soil
TL;DR: It is concluded that longer root growth in the two deciduous species as compared to Q. robur and Q. ilex ameliorates DS effects in Q. petraea and may be the key to understand the better performance ofdeciduous oaks on sandy soil in the field.

Modeling forest dynamics at their limits under current and changed climatic conditions
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used the ecosystem model LPJ-GUESS to compare the standard agedependent mortality with two size-dependent mortality approaches, when calibrated, yield a realistic pattern of growing stock and plant functional type (PFT) distribution at five study sites in Switzerland.

Reconciling biodiversity with timber production and revenue via an intensive forest management experiment.
Urs G. Kormann,Urs G. Kormann,Urs G. Kormann,Thomas D. Stokely,Jake Verschuyl,Andrew J. Kroll,Scott H. Harris,Doug Maguire,Doug Mainwaring,James W. Rivers,Matthew G. Betts +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors assessed the relationship between biodiversity, yield, and economic benefit by combining 7'yr of biodiversity surveys (>800 taxa) and forecasts of timber yield and economic return from a replicated, large-scale experiment that manipulated herbicide application intensity in operational timber plantations.
