TLDR
This paper showed that under forecasted changes in temperature and precipitation, there could be a decline of economically valuable species, which would lead to a loss in the value of European forest land.Abstract:
European forests are threatened by climate change with impacts on the distribution of tree species. Previous discussions on the consequences of biome shifts have concentrated only on ecological issues; however, research now shows that under forecasted changes in temperature and precipitation there could be a decline of economically valuable species, which would lead to a loss in the value of European forest land.read more

Effects of forest management and harvesting intensity on the timber supply from Finnish forests in a changing climate
Tero Heinonen,Timo Pukkala,Seppo Kellomäki,Harri Strandman,Antti Asikainen,Ari Venäläinen,Heli Peltola +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the potential effects of management and harvesting intensity on the timber supply from Finnish forests in a changing climate and consequently the possibilities of meeting the increasing demand for wood.

Site suitability for tree species: Is there a positive relation between a tree species’ occurrence and its growth?
TL;DR: The consideration of demographic processes as drivers of species distribution improves the reliability of estimates for site suitability and additionally provides information on productivity.

Elucidating Drought Stress Tolerance in European Oaks Through Cross-Species Transcriptomics
Silvia Madritsch,Silvia Madritsch,Elisabeth Wischnitzki,Peter Kotrade,Ahmed Ashoub,Agnes Burg,Silvia Fluch,Wolfgang Brüggemann,Eva Maria Sehr +8 more
TL;DR: New regulatory candidate pathways and genes in the context of drought stress response were identified, highlighting the importance of the antioxidant capacity, the mitochondrial respiration machinery, the lignification of the water transport system, and the suppression of drought-induced senescence – providing a valuable knowledge base that could be integrated in breeding programs in the face of climate change.

Framework for Climate Change Adaptation of Agriculture and Forestry in Mediterranean Climate Regions
André Vizinho,David Avelar,Cristina Branquinho,Tiago Capela Lourenço,Sílvia Carvalho,Alice Nunes,Leonor Sucena-Paiva,Hugo R. Oliveira,Ana Lúcia Fonseca,Filipe Duarte Santos,Maria Roxo,Gil Penha-Lopes +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a framework for climate adaptation of the agriculture and forestry sectors, based on the local causal-effect relation between adaptation strategies and measures and the level of vulnerability reduction achieved for Mediterranean areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of tree diversity on the resistance and recovery of forest stands in the French Alps may depend on species differences in hydraulic features
TL;DR: Overall, the study shows that promoting selected mixed stands management may buffer extreme drought effect on stand productivity, and there were no significant non-additive effects of diversity on stand resistance and recovery, except for some specific cases.
