TLDR
The vast majority of men > or =50 years old initially diagnosed with iRBD in this study eventually developed a parkinsonian disorder/dementia, often after a prolonged interval from onset of iR BD, with the mean interval being 14 years while the range extended to 29 years.

Cutaneous Alpha-Synuclein is Correlated with Autonomic Impairment in Isolated REM Sleep Behavior Disorder.

TL;DR: In this article, the clinical implications of cutaneous phosphorylated α-synuclein (p-syn) and its association with subjective and objective measures of autonomic impairment and clinical features including antidepressant use in isolated REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD).
Journal ArticleDOI

Difference in severity of sleep apnea in patients with rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder with or without parkinsonism.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that patients in the MSA-RBD and DLB-R BD groups had a tendency to sleeping in the supine position and a higher vulnerability to OSA compared to other RBD groups.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sleep disturbances in Lewy body dementia: A systematic review

TL;DR: The nature of sleep disturbances in LBD is examined, the effect of treatment studies upon sleep is summarised, and specific and necessary directions for future research are highlighted.

Early and Accurate Identification of Parkinson Disease Among US Veterans.

TL;DR: Early and accurate identification and management of veterans at risk for Parkinson disease is an important priority area for the US Department of Veterans Affairs because of the substantial impact on quality of life and disability-adjusted life years.

Generalized EEG Slowing Across Phasic REM Sleep, Not Subjective RBD Severity, Predicts Neurodegeneration in Idiopathic RBD

TL;DR: Electroencephalography data during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and subjective RBD severity in predicting the conversion to neurodegenerative diseases in iRBD patients is evaluated to show that EEG slowing, especially in a more generalized manner during the phasic period, may be a promising marker in predicting phenoconversion in i RBD, rather than subjective R BD severity.

“Mini-mental state”: A practical method for grading the cognitive state of patients for the clinician

TL;DR: A simplified, scored form of the cognitive mental status examination, the “Mini-Mental State” (MMS) which includes eleven questions, requires only 5-10 min to administer, and is therefore practical to use serially and routinely.

A practical method for grading the cognitive state of patients for the clinician

TL;DR: The Mini-Mental State (MMS) as mentioned in this paper is a simplified version of the standard WAIS with eleven questions and requires only 5-10 min to administer, and is therefore practical to use serially and routinely.
