TLDR
This paper developed and validated short, self-report scales of work-family conflict (WFC) and family-work conflict (FWC) using conceptualizations consistent with the current literature.
Abstract
Researchers report on a 3-sample study that developed and validated short, self-report scales of work-family conflict (WFC) and family-work conflict (FWC). Using conceptualizations consistent with the current literature, the researchers offer content domains and definitions of the constructs. Advocated procedures were used to develop the scales and test dimensionality and internal consistency. Estimates of construct validity are presented by relating the scales to 16 other on- and off-job constructs. Mean-level difference tests between WFC and FWC also provide evidence of validity.

Measuring Salesperson Burnout: A Reduced Maslach Burnout Inventory for Sales Researchers

TL;DR: In this article, the authors reduce the 22-item burnout scale to 10 items in order to facilitate salesperson burnout research, which can have implications regarding how to manage the drivers and outcomes of burnout.

Oncologist burnout and compassion fatigue: investigating time pressure at work as a predictor and the mediating role of work-family conflict

TL;DR: The study highlights the need to consider oncologists’ subjective time pressure, in addition to quantitative workload, in interventions to improve mental health and shows that work-family conflict fully mediates these relationships.

Work-family conflict and work engagement among mothers: Conscientiousness and neuroticism as moderators

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the moderating role of conscientiousness and neuroticism on the relationship between work-family conflict and work engagement among working mothers, and found that conscientiousness positively predicts work engagement and neuro-divergences negatively predict work engagement.

The influence of support relationships on work‐family conflict: differentiating emotional from instrumental support

TL;DR: This article investigated the differential impact of the support of work colleagues, workplace supervisors, non-work friends, spouse/partner, and extended family on employees' perceptions of the balance between their work and family life commitments.

An Empirical Analysis of Factors Affecting Work Life Balance among University Teachers: the case of Pakistan

TL;DR: In this article, the determinants of work and life imbalance with respect to male and female university teachers were analyzed with a total of 146 teacher responses from both private and public sector universities.

Structural equation modeling in practice: a review and recommended two-step approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide guidance for substantive researchers on the use of structural equation modeling in practice for theory testing and development, and present a comprehensive, two-step modeling approach that employs a series of nested models and sequential chi-square difference tests.

Comparative fit indexes in structural models

TL;DR: A new coefficient is proposed to summarize the relative reduction in the noncentrality parameters of two nested models and two estimators of the coefficient yield new normed (CFI) and nonnormed (FI) fit indexes.

On the evaluation of structural equation models

TL;DR: In this article, structural equation models with latent variables are defined, critiqued, and illustrated, and an overall program for model evaluation is proposed based upon an interpretation of converging and diverging evidence.
