TLDR
This paper developed and validated short, self-report scales of work-family conflict (WFC) and family-work conflict (FWC) using conceptualizations consistent with the current literature.
Abstract
Researchers report on a 3-sample study that developed and validated short, self-report scales of work-family conflict (WFC) and family-work conflict (FWC). Using conceptualizations consistent with the current literature, the researchers offer content domains and definitions of the constructs. Advocated procedures were used to develop the scales and test dimensionality and internal consistency. Estimates of construct validity are presented by relating the scales to 16 other on- and off-job constructs. Mean-level difference tests between WFC and FWC also provide evidence of validity.

Relations between stressors and group perceptions: main and mediating effects

TL;DR: This paper examined the relation between job-related stressors and group perceptions in a sample of 2403 mililitary personnel, comprising 31 companies in two US Anny combat brigades, and found that stressors were negatively associated with measures of group perceptions, and both job satisfiction and well-being.

Work-family conflict and facilitation in the hotel industry: a study in Nigeria.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the impact of negative affectivity on the conflicting interactions of work and family, as well as facilitation between work and families roles, and examined the connection of these conflict and facilitation dimensions with affective commitment to the organization and turnover intentions.

Life‐work balance

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed a conceptual linkage between life-work balance and emotional intelligence (EI) based on a review of the literature, and suggested that life experiences contribute to the development of EI, which then moderates the individual's life work balance.

Structural equation modeling in practice: a review and recommended two-step approach

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors provide guidance for substantive researchers on the use of structural equation modeling in practice for theory testing and development, and present a comprehensive, two-step modeling approach that employs a series of nested models and sequential chi-square difference tests.

On the evaluation of structural equation models

TL;DR: In this article, structural equation models with latent variables are defined, critiqued, and illustrated, and an overall program for model evaluation is proposed based upon an interpretation of converging and diverging evidence.
