TLDR
Hydrogen peroxide stimulated the autoxidation and superoxide dismutase inhibited the hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidation, results which suggest the participation of hydrogenperoxide in autoxidated and in the generation of superoxide radical.

The dual anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities of natural honey promote cell proliferation and neural regeneration in a rat model of colitis.

TL;DR: Compared to the DSS-induced colitis group, the honey-treated group had significantly improved macroscopic and microscopic scores and exhibited the down-regulation of oxidative, inflammatory, and apoptotic markers.

Flavocoxid, dual inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 and 5-lipoxygenase, exhibits neuroprotection in rat model of ischaemic stroke.

TL;DR: Flavocoxid's strong antioxidant properties figured out from the decreased level of lipid peroxidation and protection of endogenous antioxidants like reduced glutathione and superoxide dismutase, and reduced TNF-α, IL-1β, and NF-κB levels, and infarct volume as well as protected the loss of biogenic amines in brain tissue of ischaemic rats.

Flaxseed oil and α-lipoic acid combination reduces atherosclerosis risk factors in rats fed a high-fat diet

TL;DR: Supplement of FO and LA combination may contribute to prevent atherogenesis by improving plasma oxidative stress, lipid profile and inflammation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protection of multiple antioxidants Chinese herbal medicine on the oxidative stress induced by adriamycin chemotherapy

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that adriamycin chemotherapy could cause oxidative stress to the whole body, on which multiple antioxidants based on the theory of ‘multiple antioxidant chain’ had effective protection.

Effect of acute extremely low frequency electromagnetic field exposure on the antioxidant status and lipid levels in rat brain.

TL;DR: In this paper, the immediate effects of acute EMF exposure, movement restriction, and the combination of both on the antioxidant systems and lipid content in the whole brain of rat were assessed and the results showed that the acute exposure to EMF appears to be a mild stressor that leads to some adaptive responses due to the activation of systems controlling the brain oxidative balance.

Involvement of the Superoxide Anion Radical in the Autoxidation of Pyrogallol and a Convenient Assay for Superoxide Dismutase

TL;DR: The autoxidation of pyrogallol was investigated in the presence of EDTA in the pH range 7.9–10.6, indicating an almost total dependence on the participation of the superoxide anion radical, O2·−, in the reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Role of Superoxide Anion in the Autoxidation of Epinephrine and a Simple Assay for Superoxide Dismutase

TL;DR: It is proposed that the autoxidation of epinephrine proceeds by at least two distinct pathways, only one of which is a free radical chain reaction involving O2- and hence inhibitable by superoxide dismutase.

The Generation of Superoxide Radical during the Autoxidation of Hemoglobin

TL;DR: Clostridial and spinach ferredoxins, reduced enzymatically by the action of ferredoxin-TPN+ oxidoreductase, have been shown to carry out the univalent reduction of oxygen.
Journal ArticleDOI

The generation of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical, and hydroxyl radical by 6-hydroxydopamine, dialuric acid, and related cytotoxic agents.

TL;DR: The results point to a reaction between H2O2 and O2- (Haber-Weiss reaction) as a major source of the ·OH radicals and to a combined action of blocking ·OH formation as well as accelerating its removal.
