TLDR
Hydrogen peroxide stimulated the autoxidation and superoxide dismutase inhibited the hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidation, results which suggest the participation of hydrogenperoxide in autoxidated and in the generation of superoxide radical.

Evaluation of biophysical as well as biochemical potential of curcumin and resveratrol during prostate cancer.

TL;DR: The combination of curcumin and resveratrol holds strong modulatory potential against prostate carcinogenesis and significantly modulated biochemical indices including drug metabolising enzyme and antioxidant enzymes in DMBA treated rats.

Phytoremediation potential of Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon (L.) pers.) in soils co-contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and cadmium.

TL;DR: In this article , the individual and combined effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and cadmium (Cd) on the phytoremediation potential of Bermuda grass grown in contaminated soils were investigated.

Naringenin; a bioflavonoid, impairs the reproductive potential of male mice.

TL;DR: It is revealed that naringenin despite being a potent antioxidant with numerous important biological functions may also act as pro-oxidant, thus causing damaging effects in the testicular tissue.

Thermo-Protective Role of 28-Homobrassinolide in Brassica juncea Plants

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of 28-homobrassinolide on growth, stress markers, antioxidative enzyme [superoxide dismutase (EC 1.15.6) ] activities and protein content in 10 days old seedlings of Brassica juncea L. treated with different degrees of temperature.

Glucose modulates copper induced changes in photosynthesis, ion uptake, antioxidants and proline in Cucumis sativus plants.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of exogenously sourced glucose on Cucumber plants exposed to increasing concentration of copper was analyzed in the presence and absence of copper, and it was shown that exogenous application of glucose can be employed as vital biochemical approach in alleviating copper-induced toxicity and could be utilized as phytoremediation technique for removal of excess transition metal from polluted soil.

Involvement of the Superoxide Anion Radical in the Autoxidation of Pyrogallol and a Convenient Assay for Superoxide Dismutase

TL;DR: The autoxidation of pyrogallol was investigated in the presence of EDTA in the pH range 7.9–10.6, indicating an almost total dependence on the participation of the superoxide anion radical, O2·−, in the reaction.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Role of Superoxide Anion in the Autoxidation of Epinephrine and a Simple Assay for Superoxide Dismutase

TL;DR: It is proposed that the autoxidation of epinephrine proceeds by at least two distinct pathways, only one of which is a free radical chain reaction involving O2- and hence inhibitable by superoxide dismutase.

The Generation of Superoxide Radical during the Autoxidation of Hemoglobin

TL;DR: Clostridial and spinach ferredoxins, reduced enzymatically by the action of ferredoxin-TPN+ oxidoreductase, have been shown to carry out the univalent reduction of oxygen.

The generation of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide radical, and hydroxyl radical by 6-hydroxydopamine, dialuric acid, and related cytotoxic agents.

TL;DR: The results point to a reaction between H2O2 and O2- (Haber-Weiss reaction) as a major source of the ·OH radicals and to a combined action of blocking ·OH formation as well as accelerating its removal.
