The article proposes a new reading of Vendredi ou les limbes du Pacifique with the intent to combine Postcolonial and Animal Studies, beyond the common emphasis on the notion of victim, and to resist the allegorical interpretations of the novel. Firstly, I demonstrate that during the “administrated island”, Robinson imposes an order based on the correlation among capitalism, colonialism and Oedipal sexuality, as if humanity as such could be reduced to the features of Western societies. Then, I explore how the novel relocates the boundaries between the human and the nonhuman, challenging the exclusive identification of alterity to a human face. Finally, I focus on the new relation with otherness (both human and animal) experienced by the two characters: a kind of intersubjectivity based on the play, which is a practice that does not presuppose the knowledge of the other and exceeds the traditional categorical antithesis, such as truth/falsity, good/evil, nature/culture.

Iconisme ou mimétisme

On one hand, information systems design demands the creativity of art; on the other, it demands the methodical rigor of science. An emphasis on design rigor can diminish our attention on design creativity. In this paper, we explore the relationship between the creative and the methodical aspects of design, and propose a novel, generic design approach that invokes creativity by provoking divergent thinking and context in the design processes while retaining the analytical and methodical aspects. Using design science research, we study the utility of this generic design approach by using it to develop a game design method named site-storming. From this specific case of a design method we explore if we can design an explanatory design theory of scientific creativity. Our results show that creativity and science may coexist in a creativity method, but that the method only delivers, if they are balanced correctly.

Designing Scientific Creativity

This conceptual article looks at some benchmarks about the need to develop a social policy on leisure(s)/recreation in Canada. In fact, there is a fundamental movement to ensure that this global earthly reality with many dimensions, including sporting practices, are subject to a more rigorous legislation by meeting the urgency of the situation caused firstly by the misunderstanding of the monochrone and polychrone time as well as the episodic socio-economical problems. Relationships between three humanity models, namely —the homo faber –person at work, the homo religious –person-related-to-the-religious/spiritual, and the homo ludens –person at play— are inextricably linked and implied the spiritual model of leisure(s) entitled the homo faber-religious-ludens where persons can identify themselves through the specificity of this continuum within the post-secular era. Some pragmatic stance is finally taken to create a better synergy of leisure(s)/recreation and sporting practices regenerating the social fabric about the Canadian mosaic perspective in the communities of the social world especially from the personalist point of view which will also have a beneficial health outcome during this sanitary crisis cause by the Covid-19 pandemic context on Earth.

The Current Need to Develop a Social Policy on Leisure(s)/Recreation from a Personalist Point of View — A Brief Look at the Canadian Reality

La sociologie des pratiques sociales concue par Paul Yonnet, sert ici de fil conducteur pour positionner les approches de leur massification dans le champ des theories sociologiques contemporaines sensibles a l'analyse de la diffusion des pratiques culturelles, notamment des activites physiques et sportives. L'objectif est alors de saisir les conflictualites des theses anthropo-sociologiques qui conduisent non seulement a des interpretations differenciees du social, mais encore a des enjeux dissimules dont les consequences visent la reconnaissance ou non - et donc la legitimite - des pratiques sportives comme pratiques "cultivees", dans le champ social ou dans celui de l'education. Nous nous placons ici dans un type de recherche attentive a une sociologie de la connaissance, visant a saisir les mecanismes de production de la connaissance sociologique, jamais desincarnee des conflits nes des antagonismes des theories en presence, conflits generateurs de sens jamais desengages d'une volonte concrete d'action et de changement dans les valeurs des pratiques sociales "ordinaires".
