TLDR
In this article, a review examines physico-chemical requirements necessary to achieve stimuli-responsiveness in heterogeneous polymer networks as well as discusses recent developments and future trends while individual structural components of polymeric networks are responsible for localized chainresponsiveness, desirable spatial and energetic network properties are necessary for collective and orchestrated responsiveness to external or internal stimuli.About:

Poly[glycidyl oligo(oxyethylene)carbamate]s (PGn-EOmR′ and R-PGn-EOmR′): controlled synthesis and effects of molecular parameters (n and m), side groups (R′), and end-groups (R) on thermoresponsive properties
Tingyu He,Yanqiu Wang,Liang Xu,Xiangming Fu,Atsushi Narumi,Shin-ichiro Sato,Xiande Shen,Toyoji Kakuchi,Toyoji Kakuchi +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, controlled synthesis of glycerol-based polymers, involving poly(glycidol) (PG)-backbones and thermoresponsive oligo(oxyethylene)-side chains, are described.

Rheological Study on the Thermoreversible Gelation of Stereo-Controlled Poly( N-Isopropylacrylamide) in an Imidazolium Ionic Liquid
TL;DR: The thermoreversible sol-gel transition for an ionic liquid (IL) solution of isotactic-rich poly (N-isopropylacrylamides) (PNIPAMs) is investigated by rheological technique, and the phase diagram composed of both G’-G” crossover points for gelation and cloud points is established in PNIPAM/IL mixtures.

A strengthening approach for damping property and shape memory property of acrylic rubber/polylactide blends:
TL;DR: In this article, a damping material was successfully prepared by blending acrylic rubber (ACM) and polylactide (PLA) with sulfur and soap salt as the curing agents, and a phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin wa...

Effects of molecular weight on dual light- and thermo-responsive behaviors of homopolymers with azobenzene units and terminal oligo(ethylene glycol) units
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of dual light and thermo-responsive homopolymers bearing azobenzene units and terminal oligo(ethylene glycol) units with well-defined molecular weight (Mn = 0.69 × 104 to 4.60 × 104 g mol−1) were synthesized via reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer polymerization.

Photografted poly(acrylic acid) thin layers with ultra-high swelling ratios and high swelling and pH response rates
Lin Zhang,Huiliang Wang +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate that photografting of acrylic acid onto polyethylene films carried out with films on the top or at the bottom of a solution leads to huge differences in the grafting reactions and the final properties of the grafted layers.

How useful is SBF in predicting in vivo bone bioactivity
Tadashi Kokubo,Hiroaki Takadama +1 more
TL;DR: Examination of apatite formation on a material in SBF is useful for predicting the in vivo bone bioactivity of a material, and the number of animals used in and the duration of animal experiments can be reduced remarkably by using this method.

Photomechanics: directed bending of a polymer film by light.
TL;DR: It is shown that a single film of a liquid-crystal network containing an azobenzene chromophore can be repeatedly and precisely bent along any chosen direction by using linearly polarized light.
