TLDR
In this article, a review examines physico-chemical requirements necessary to achieve stimuli-responsiveness in heterogeneous polymer networks as well as discusses recent developments and future trends while individual structural components of polymeric networks are responsible for localized chainresponsiveness, desirable spatial and energetic network properties are necessary for collective and orchestrated responsiveness to external or internal stimuli.

PH-responsive fluorescent molecular bottlebrushes prepared by atom transfer radical polymerization

TL;DR: Fluorescein O-methacrylate was copolymerized with n-butyl acrylate by atom transfer radical polymerization in a "grafting from" reaction with a multifunctional linear macroinitiator to form pH responsive fluorescent bottlebrushes as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aggregation-Induced Emissive Carbon Dots Gels for Octopus-Inspired Shape/Color Synergistically Adjustable Actuators.

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper utilized unique hydrophobic carbon dots (CDs) with rotatable surficial groups to construct the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) active glycol CDs polymer gel, which could be further employed to be interfacially bonded to an elastomer to produce anisotropic bilayer soft actuator.

Biocompatible and acid-cleavable poly(ε-caprolactone)-acetal-poly(ethylene glycol)-acetal-poly(ε-caprolactone) triblock copolymers: synthesis, characterization and pH-triggered doxorubicin delivery

TL;DR: This work provides a facile strategy for the preparation of a new type of biodegradable amphiphilic copolymer as a highly promising intracellular delivery system for hydrophobic drugs.
Journal ArticleDOI

A novel doxorubicin-loaded in situ forming gel based high concentration of phospholipid for intratumoral drug delivery

TL;DR: The in vivo biodistribution study showed the high Dox concentration in tumors compared with other major organs after PME-D intratumoral administration, and the strong signal in tumors was retained for more than 14 days after one single injection.

Controlled Sol-Gel Transitions of a Thermoresponsive Polymer in a Photoswitchable Azobenzene Ionic Liquid as a Molecular Trigger.

TL;DR: An azobenzene IL as a molecular switch can tune the self-assembly of a thermoresponsive polymer, leading to macroscopic light-controlled sol-gel transitions.

How useful is SBF in predicting in vivo bone bioactivity

TL;DR: Examination of apatite formation on a material in SBF is useful for predicting the in vivo bone bioactivity of a material, and the number of animals used in and the duration of animal experiments can be reduced remarkably by using this method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Conjugated polymer-based chemical sensors.

TL;DR: When considering new sensory technologies one should look to nature for guidance, as living organisms have developed the ultimate chemical sensors.

Investigations on the theory of the Brownian movement

TL;DR: Alfaro et al. as discussed by the authors conservado en la Biblioteca del Campus de Mostoles de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (sign. 530.12 EIN INV).

Photomechanics: directed bending of a polymer film by light.

TL;DR: It is shown that a single film of a liquid-crystal network containing an azobenzene chromophore can be repeatedly and precisely bent along any chosen direction by using linearly polarized light.
