TLDR
Irrespective of BMI, metabolically unhealthy individuals had higher CHD risk than their healthy counterparts and population-wide strategies to tackle obesity are challenged, challenging the concept of 'metabolically healthy obesity.

A new definition for metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease: An international expert consensus statement.

TL;DR: A panel of international experts from 22 countries propose a new definition of metabolic-dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease that is both comprehensive yet simple for the diagnosis of MAFLD and is independent of other liver diseases.

MAFLD: A Consensus-Driven Proposed Nomenclature for Metabolic Associated Fatty Liver Disease.

TL;DR: Experts reached consensus that NAFLD does not reflect current knowledge and metabolic (dysfunction) associated fatty liver disease "MAFLD" was suggested as a more appropriate overarching term and opens the door for efforts from the research community to update the nomenclature and sub-phenotype the disease in order to accelerate the translational path to new treatments.

Obesity and Cardiovascular Disease: A Scientific Statement From the American Heart Association

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors summarized the impact of obesity on the diagnosis, clinical management, and outcomes of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, heart failure, and arrhythmias, especially sudden cardiac death and atrial fibrillation.

Cardiovascular and Metabolic Heterogeneity of Obesity: Clinical Challenges and Implications for Management.

TL;DR: Lifestyle, pharmacological, and surgical interventions allow a multidisciplinary approach to overweight/obesity that may improve outcomes and align with a public health message to combat the growing epidemic of obesity worldwide and to build healthier lives free of cardiovascular diseases.

Causes, consequences, and treatment of metabolically unhealthy fat distribution.

TL;DR: Support is provided for the theory that a lower amount of lower-body fat mass is equally important to a high amount of visceral fat mass as a determinant of cardiometabolic diseases.

International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems

TL;DR: There is substantial global variation in the relative burden of stroke compared with IHD, and the disproportionate burden from stroke for many lower-income countries suggests that distinct interventions may be required.
