Journal ArticleDOI
Proton-Helium Spectral Anomaly as a Signature of Cosmic Ray Accelerator
TL;DR: By fitting the p/He ratio to the PAMELA data, the diffusive shock acceleration case for resolving the century-old mystery of CR origin is bolstered, and it is demonstrated that the spectral difference is a unique signature of the acceleration mechanism.
Journal ArticleDOI

Miley,Emanuela Orrú,Emanuela Orrú,Roberto Pizzo,Glenn J. White,Glenn J. White +28 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented deep, high-fidelity, low-frequency images made with the LOw-Frequency Array (LOFAR) between 115.5 and 179 MHz.
Journal ArticleDOI
Non-linear diffusion of cosmic rays
TL;DR: In this paper, a self-similar solution of the equation of non-linear diffusion for particles ejected from a supernova source is presented, and the results may change the physical picture of cosmic ray propagation in the Galaxy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Compression Acceleration in Astrophysical Plasmas and the Production of f(v) v ?5 Spectra in the Heliosphere
J. R. Jokipii,Martin A. Lee +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a new derivation of the acceleration of fast charged particles by random compressions and expansions based on a quasilinear approximation applied to the Parker transport equation is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Open Questions in Cosmic-Ray Research at Ultrahigh Energies
Rafael Alves Batista,Jonathan Biteau,Mauricio Bustamante,Klaus Dolag,Ralph Engel,Ke Fang,Karl-Heinz Kampert,Dmitriy Kostunin,Miguel Mostafá,Kohta Murase,Günter Sigl,Foteini Oikonomou,Angela V. Olinto,Mikhail Panasyuk,Andrew M. Taylor,Michael Unger +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review open questions and prospects for progress in ultra-high-energy cosmic ray (UHECR) research, based on a series of discussions that took place during the ''The High-Energy Universe: Gamma-Ray, Neutrino and Cosmic-ray Astronomy' MIAPP workshop in 2018.
