TLDR
The present paper gives a detailed account of the investigations on rabbit liver microsomes and crude microsomal digests, which have led to postulate the hemoprotein nature of the pigment.

Dose-effect relationship for induction of hepatic monooxygenase activity in rainbow trout and carp by Aroclor 1254

TL;DR: The results suggest that in some areas environmental exposure of fish to PCBs may be sufficient to cause induction of hepatic monooxygenase activity, and that the potency of planar PCB isomers as inducers in fish is sufficiently great to account for the effect of Aroclor 1254.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of erythromycin on hepatic drug-metabolizing enzymes in humans

TL;DR: It is concluded that the administration of erythromycin propionate induces microsomal enzymes and results in the formation of an inactive cytochrome P-450-metabolite complex in humans, however, the concn of uncomplexed (active) cyto chrome P- 450 and tests for in vitro and in vivo drug metabolism were not significantly modified.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparison of radical scavenging effect, inhibition of microsomal oxygen free radical generation, and serum lipoprotein oxidation of several natural antioxidants.

TL;DR: These studies indicate that complex phenols, such as hydroxytyrosol, and gallic acid both inhibit free radical generation and act as free radical scavengers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Modulation of Leydig cell androgen biosynthesis and cytochrome P-450 levels during estrogen treatment and human chorionic gonadotropin-induced desensitization.

TL;DR: The similarity of estrogen-dependent lesions to those produced by hCG treatment further indicates the involvement of endogenous estrogen in the development of the microsomal enzymatic lesions in gonadotropin-induced desensitization of testicular androgen production.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interactive effects of cadmium and benzo(a)pyrene on cellular structure and biotransformation enzymes of the liver of the European eel Anguilla anguilla

TL;DR: When eels were exposed to both toxicants together, the liver showed a complete disorganisation of the hepatic parenchyma including nuclear degeneration and the existence of elements of a biotransformation enzyme system was demonstrated in the liver.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.

The Carbon Monoxide-binding Pigment of Liver Microsomes II. SOLUBILIZATION, PURIFICATION, AND PROPERTIES

TL;DR: The present paper gives a detailed account of the investigations on rabbit liver microsomes and crude microsomal digests, which have led to postulate the hemoprotein nature of the pigment.

Hepatic Triphosphopyridine Nucleotide-Cytochrome c Reductase: Isolation, Characterization, and Kinetic Studies

TL;DR: Evidence is presented which suggests that this enzyme participates in a microsomal elect, ron transport system which does not include cytochrome c and kinetic evidence has been obtained which allows certain conclusions to be drawn concerning the mechanism of catalysis by this enzyme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Microsomal triphosphopyridine nucleotide-cytochrome c reductase of liver.

TL;DR: The biological role of reduced triphosphopyridine nucleotide (TPNH) and the metabolic pathways of its hydrogen atom and electron appear to be fundamentally different from those of reduced diphosphipyridineucleotide (DPNH).
