Journal ArticleDOI
Electrothermal frequency tuning of a nano-resonator
TL;DR: In this paper, the resonance frequency of a nanomechanical silicon carbide resonator was tuned to 10.12 MHz using the magnetomotive transduction technique and the resonance quality was improved by 10% with Joule heating of DC current.
Journal ArticleDOI
Direct Measurement of the Radiative Pattern of Bright and Dark Excitons and Exciton Complexes in Encapsulated Tungsten Diselenide
Lorenz Maximilian Schneider,Shanece Esdaille,Daniel Rhodes,Katayun Barmak,James Hone,Arash Rahimi-Iman +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, angle-resolved spectroscopic data of a high-quality hexagonal-BN-encapsulated WSe2 monolayer with which they directly obtain the radiation pattern of this grey exciton that deviates from that of the bright exciton and other exciton complexes obtained at cryogenic temperatures.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Impact of the Substrate Material on the Optical Properties of 2D WSe2 Monolayers
Lorenz Maximilian Schneider,Sina Lippert,Jan Kuhnert,Dylan Renaud,Kyungnam Kang,Obafunso Ajayi,Marc-Uwe Halbich,Oday Mazin Abdulmunem,Xing Lin,Khaleel I. Hassoon,Saeideh Edalati-Boostan,Young Duck Kim,Wolfram Heimbrodt,Eui-Hyeok Yang,James Hone,Arash Rahimi-Iman +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the optical properties of tungsten diselenide monolayers on different substrates have been studied and the influence of the environment has not been studied in detail.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nano-spectroscopy of excitons in atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides
Shuai Zhang,Baichang Li,Xinzhong Chen,Francesco L. Ruta,Yinming Shao,Aaron Sternbach,Alexander McLeod,Zhi-Qiang Sun,Lin Xiong,Samuel Moore,Xinyi Xu,Wenjing Wu,Sara Shabani,Lin Zhou,Zhiying Wang,Fabian Mooshammer,Essance Ray,Nathan P. Wilson,P. James Schuck,C Dean,A. N. Pasupathy,Michal Lipson,Xiaodong Xu,Xiaoyang Zhu,Andrew J. Millis,Mengkun Liu,James Hone,Dimitri Basov +27 more
TL;DR: In this article , a scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscope (s-SNOM) was used to acquire exciton spectra in atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenide microcrystals with previously unattainable 20 nm resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Michael E. Berkowitz,B. Kim,Guangxin Ni,Alexander McLeod,Chiu Fan Bowen Lo,Zhiyuan Sun,Genda Gu,Kenji Watanabe,Takashi Taniguchi,Andrew J. Millis,James Hone,Michael M. Fogler,Richard D. Averitt,Dimitri Basov +13 more
TL;DR: This work critically assesses an experimental approach using near-field imaging to probe HCP in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+x (Bi-2212) in the presence of graphene surface plasmon polaritons (SPP), and shows that inherently weak HCP features in the near- field can be strongly enhanced when coupled to graphene SPP in layered graphene/hexagonal boron nitride (hBN)/Bi- 2212 heterostructures.
