Nano-spectroscopy of excitons in atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides
Shuai Zhang,Baichang Li,Xinzhong Chen,Francesco L. Ruta,Yinming Shao,Aaron Sternbach,Alexander McLeod,Zhiyuan Sun,Lin Xiong,Samuel Moore,Xinyi Xu,Wenjing Wu,Sara Shabani,Lin Zhou,Zhiying Wang,Fabian Mooshammer,Essance Ray,Nathan P. Wilson,P Schuck,Cory Dean,Abhay Pasupathy,Michal Lipson,Xiaodong Xu,X-Y. Zhu,Andrew J. Millis,James Hone,Mengkun Liu,Dimitri Basov +27 more
TL;DR: In this article, a scattering-type scanning near-field optical microscope (s-SNOM) was used to acquire exciton spectra in atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenide microcrystals with previously unattainable 20 nm resolution.

Cell shape regulates subcellular organelle location to control short-term Ca2+ signal dynamics in VSMC
Rhodora Cristina Calizo,Amit Ron,Mufeng Hu,Smiti Bhattacharya,William G.M. Janssen,James Hone,Suzanne Scarlata,Padmini Rangamani,Ravi Iyengar +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated how global cell shape can affect subcellular organization, and consequently intracellular signaling, to control information flow needed for phenotypic function, and found that global cell curvature regulates the location of the sarcoplasmic reticulum, inter-organelle distances and differential distribution of receptors in the plasma membrane.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electron spin density distribution in the polymer phase of CsC60: assignment of the NMR spectrum.
T. M. de Swiet,T. M. de Swiet,T. M. de Swiet,Jeffery L. Yarger,Jeffery L. Yarger,Jeffery L. Yarger,Thomas Wågberg,James Hone,B. J. Gross,B. J. Gross,Marco Tomaselli,Marco Tomaselli,Jeremy J. Titman,Alex Zettl,Michael Mehring +14 more
TL;DR: The data support the view that the conduction electron density is concentrated at the C60 "equator," away from the interfullerene bonds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pragati Pandey,William Hawkes,Junquiang Hu,William Megone,Julien E. Gautrot,Narayana Anilkumar,Min Zhang,Liisa M. Hirvonen,Susan Cox,Elisabeth Ehler,James Hone,Michael P. Sheetz,Thomas Iskratsch +12 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Surface plasmons induce topological transition in graphene/α-MoO3 heterostructures
Francesco L. Ruta,Brian S. Y. Kim,Zhi-Qiang Sun,Daniel J. Rizzo,Alexander McLeod,Anjaly Rajendran,Song Liu,Andrew J. Millis,James Hone,Dimitri Basov +9 more
TL;DR: In this article , a doping-induced topological transition effected by plasmon-phonon hybridization in graphene/α-MoO3 heterostructures was demonstrated.
