TL;DR: In this paper, a meta-analysis of data from 45 studies of adults and nine studies of children and adolescents was conducted to confirm or refute unambiguously whether physical activity attenuates the association of FTO with obesity risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of Low-Dose Perindopril/Indapamide on Albuminuria in Diabetes Preterax in Albuminuria Regression: PREMIER
Carl Erik Mogensen,Giancarlo Viberti,Serge Halimi,Eberhard Ritz,Luis M. Ruilope,György Jermendy,Jiri Widimsky,P. Sareli,Jan Taton,Juan Rull,Gurbuz Erdogan,Pieter W. De Leeuw,Arthur Ribeiro,Ramiro A. Sanchez,Rachid Mechmeche,John J. Nolan,Jana Sirotiakova,Ahmed Hamani,André Scheen,B. Hess,Anton Luger,Stephen Thomas +21 more
TL;DR: First-line treatment with low-dose combination perindopril/indapamide induces a greater decrease in albuminuria than enalapril, partially independent of BP reduction, and a BP-independent effect of the combination may increase renal protection.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The results do not provide any consistent evidence that interventions aimed at increasing adiponectin levels will improve insulin sensitivity or risk of type 2 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Testosterone causes both prosocial and antisocial status-enhancing behaviors in human males
Jean-Claude Dreher,Simon Dunne,Agnieszka Pazderska,Thomas Frodl,John J. Nolan,John P. O'Doherty +5 more
TL;DR: It is found that participants treated with testosterone were more likely to punish the proposer and that higher testosterone levels were specifically associated with increased punishment of proposers who made unfair offers, indicating that testosterone indeed potentiates aggressive responses to provocation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lipidome as a predictive tool in progression to type 2 diabetes in Finnish men
Tommi Suvitaival,Isabel Bondia-Pons,Laxman Yetukuri,Päivi Pöhö,John J. Nolan,Tuulia Hyötyläinen,Johanna Kuusisto,Matej Orešič +7 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that a lipid signature characteristic of type 2 diabetes mellitus is present years before the diagnosis and improves prediction of progression to T2DM.
