The Versatile Thiophene: An Overview of Recent Research on Thiophene-Based Materials†

TL;DR: In the last few years, thiophene-based materials have become a highly interdisciplinary field of research, with diverse studies ranging from the fabrication of electronic and optoelectronic devices to the selective detection of biopolymers as discussed by the authors.

Production and processing of graphene and related materials

Claudia Backes, +148 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present an overview of the main techniques for production and processing of graphene and related materials (GRMs), as well as the key characterization procedures, adopting a 'hands-on' approach, providing practical details and procedures as derived from literature and from the authors' experience, in order to enable the reader to reproduce the results.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-Contrast Visualization of Graphene Oxide on Dye-Sensitized Glass, Quartz, and Silicon by Fluorescence Quenching

TL;DR: A comparison of fluorescence, AFM, and XRD measurements confirmed that even a single GO sheet can completely quench the fluorescence and thus be quickly visualized.
Journal ArticleDOI

Local current mapping and patterning of reduced graphene oxide.

TL;DR: Conductive atomic force microscopy has been used to correlate the detailed structural and electrical characteristics of graphene derived from graphene oxide and it is shown that a local AFM-tip-induced electrochemical reduction process can be used to pattern conductive pathways on otherwise-insulating graphene oxide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solution-Phase Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Unsubstituted and Modified α-Quinque- and Sexithiophenes

TL;DR: The facile synthesis of poorly soluble unsubstituted and modified alpha-quinque- and sexithiophenes under microwave irradiation in the liquid phase is described and the electronic and optical characterization of this compound is reported and discussed in relation to that of unsubStituted quinquethiophene.
