Association of Hyper-Polypharmacy With Clinical Outcomes in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction
Masatoshi Minamisawa,Masatoshi Minamisawa,Brian Claggett,Kota Suzuki,Sheila M. Hegde,Amil M. Shah,Akshay S. Desai,Eldrin F. Lewis,Sanjiv J. Shah,Nancy K. Sweitzer,James C. Fang,Inder S. Anand,Eileen O'Meara,Jean-Lucien Rouleau,Bertram Pitt,Marc A. Pfeffer,Scott D. Solomon,Orly Vardeny +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the association of polypharmacy with cardiovascular outcomes in heart failure in the elderly with preserved e.g. blood cholesterol was found to be associated with a poor prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum potassium and outcomes in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: a post-hoc analysis of the PARAGON-HF trial.
João Pedro Ferreira,João Pedro Ferreira,Brian Claggett,Jiankang Liu,Akshay S. Desai,Marc A. Pfeffer,Inder S. Anand,Dirk J. van Veldhuisen,Lars Køber,John G.F. Cleland,Jean L. Rouleau,Milton Packer,Milton Packer,Michael R. Zile,Victor Shi,Martin Lefkowitz,Sanjiv J. Shah,Orly Vardeny,Faiez Zannad,Scott D. Solomon,John J.V. McMurray +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, the PARAGON-HF trial was used to explore the relationship between serum potassium and clinical outcomes in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF).
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanism of immediate hemodynamic effects of chlorothiazide.
TL;DR: The mechanism of the immediate hemodynamic effects of intravenous chlorothiazide was studied in 22 anesthetized open-chest dogs and there was no evidence demonstrated to indicate any direct myocardial effect or peripheral venodilation induced by thiazide.
National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and Other Atherosclerotic Vascular Disease: 2006 Update: Endorsed by the AHA/ACC Guidelines for Secondary Prevention for Patients With Coronary
Kathryn A. Taubert,M. Krumholz,Lori Mosca,Richard C. Pasternak,Thomas A. Pearson,Marc A. Pfeffer,Gregg C. Fonarow,Scott M. Grundy,Loren F. Hiratzka,Daniel Jones,J. T. Allen,Steven N. Blair,Robert O. Bonow +12 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of hospitalization for cardiovascular versus noncardiovascular reasons on subsequent mortality in patients with chronic heart failure across the spectrum of ejection fraction
Akshay S. Desai,Brian Claggett,Marc A. Pfeffer,Natalie A. Bello,Peter V. Finn,Christopher B. Granger,John J.V. McMurray,Karl Swedberg,Salim Yusuf,Scott D. Solomon +9 more
TL;DR: Non-CV reasons for hospitalization are common in HF patients across the spectrum of EF, with higher risk in low than preserved EF patients after both CV and non-CV hospitalization.
