TL;DR: The results suggest an important role for HTR3B in major depression in women and raise the possibility that previously proposed disease-associated SNPs in the H TR3A/B region in Caucasians are in linkage disequilibrium with haplotype block 2 of HTR 3B in the Japanese.

Reduced sensitivity to glucocorticoid feedback and reduced glucocorticoid receptor mRNA expression in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle

TL;DR: Results indicate that glucocorticoid feedback regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis is reduced in the mid-luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, which may play a role in generation of common premenstrual symptoms of irritability and dysphoria.
