Journal ArticleDOI
New particle formation at urban and high-altitude remote sites in the south-eastern Iberian Peninsula
Juan Andrés Casquero-Vera,Hassan Lyamani,Lubna Dada,Simo Hakala,Pauli Paasonen,Roberto Román,Roberto Fraile,Tuukka Petäjä,Francisco José Olmo-Reyes,Lucas Alados-Arboledas +9 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate aerosol size distribution at two stations located close to each other, but at different altitudes: urban (UGR; 680m)m.s.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence of New Particle Formation Within Etna and Stromboli Volcanic Plumes and Its Parameterization From Airborne In Situ Measurements
Maher Sahyoun,Evelyn Freney,Joel Brito,Joel Brito,Jonathan Duplissy,Mathieu Gouhier,Aurélie Colomb,Régis Dupuy,T. Bourianne,John B. Nowak,Chao Yan,Tuukka Petäjä,Markku Kulmala,Alfons Schwarzenboeck,Céline Planche,Karine Sellegri +15 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a series of airborne measurements were performed around the Etna and Stromboli volcanoes within the framework of the CLerVolc and STRAP projects.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effect of meteorological conditions and atmospheric composition in the occurrence and development of new particle formation (NPF) events in Europe
Dimitrios Bousiotis,James Brean,Francis D. Pope,Manuel Dall'Osto,Xavier Querol,Andrés Alastuey,Noemí Pérez,Tuukka Petäjä,Andreas Massling,Jacob Klenø Nøjgaard,Claus Nordstrøm,Giorgos Kouvarakis,Stergios Vratolis,Konstantinos Eleftheriadis,Jarkko V. Niemi,Harri Portin,Alfred Wiedensohler,Kay Weinhold,Maik Merkel,Thomas Tuch,Roy M. Harrison,Roy M. Harrison +21 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors seek common features in nucleation events by applying a linear regression over an extensive dataset from 16 sites of various types (combined dataset of 85 years from rural and urban backgrounds as well as roadside sites) in Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Estimation of aerosol particle number distribution with Kalman Filtering – Part 2: Simultaneous use of DMPS, APS and nephelometer measurements
TL;DR: In this article, an Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is used to estimate particle size distributions from observations, where the prior state estimate is updated with size-segregating measurements from Differential Mobility Particle Sizer (DMPS) and Aerodynamic ParticleSizer (APS) as well as integrating measurements from a nephelometer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of dimethylamine on the gas phase sulfuric acid concentration measured by Chemical Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Linda Rondo,Sebastian Ehrhart,Andreas Kürten,Alexey Adamov,F. Bianchi,F. Bianchi,Martin Breitenlechner,Jonathan Duplissy,Alessandro Franchin,Josef Dommen,Neil M. Donahue,Eimear M. Dunne,Eimear M. Dunne,Richard C. Flagan,Jani Hakala,Armin Hansel,Helmi Keskinen,Helmi Keskinen,Jaeseok Kim,Tuija Jokinen,Katrianne Lehtipalo,Markus Leiminger,Arnaud P. Praplan,Arnaud P. Praplan,Francesco Riccobono,Matti P. Rissanen,Nina Sarnela,Siegfried Schobesberger,Siegfried Schobesberger,Mario Simon,Mikko Sipilä,James N. Smith,James N. Smith,António Tomé,Jasmin Tröstl,Georgios Tsagkogeorgas,Petri Vaattovaara,Paul M. Winkler,Christina Williamson,Daniela Wimmer,Urs Baltensperger,Jasper Kirkby,Jasper Kirkby,Markku Kulmala,Tuukka Petäjä,Douglas R. Worsnop,Joachim Curtius +46 more
TL;DR: It was found that the addition of dimethylamine dramatically changes the H2SO4 cluster distribution compared to binary (H2SO 4‐H2O) conditions, but the CIMS detection efficiency does not seem to depend substantially on whether an individual H2 SO4 monomer is clustered with a DMA molecule.
