Journal ArticleDOI
(Patho‐)physiological relevance of PINK1‐dependent ubiquitin phosphorylation
Fabienne C. Fiesel,Maya Ando,Roman Hudec,Anneliese R. Hill,Monica Castanedes-Casey,Thomas R. Caulfield,Elisabeth L. Moussaud-Lamodière,Jeannette N. Stankowski,Peter O. Bauer,Oswaldo Lorenzo-Betancor,Isidre Ferrer,José Matías Arbelo,Joanna Siuda,Li Chen,Valina L. Dawson,Ted M. Dawson,Zbigniew K. Wszolek,Owen A. Ross,Dennis W. Dickson,Wolfdieter Springer +19 more
TL;DR: It is shown that pS65‐Ub is reversible and barely detectable under basal conditions, but rapidly induced upon mitochondrial stress in cells and amplified in the presence of functional Parkin.
Journal ArticleDOI
Parkin-mediated lysine 63-linked polyubiquitination: A link to protein inclusions formation in Parkinson's and other conformational diseases?
TL;DR: A novel, proteasomal-independent, catalytic activity for the Parkinson disease (PD)-linked ubiquitin ligase, parkin, that significantly enhances the formation of Lewy body-like inclusions generated in cultured cells by the co-expression of alpha-synuclein and synphilin-1 is uncovered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urinary bladder-urethral sphincter dysfunction in mice with targeted disruption of neuronal nitric oxide synthase models idiopathic voiding disorders in humans
Arthur L. Burnett,David C. Calvin,Shelly L. Chamness,Jian Xiang Liu,Randy J. Nelson,Sabra L. Klein,Valina L. Dawson,Ted M. Dawson,Solonion H. Snyder +8 more
TL;DR: Bladder abnormalities in mice with targeted deletion of the gene for neuronal nitric oxide synthase are described which model the clinical disorders ofiopathic voiding disorders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Toward the human cellular microRNAome
Matthew N. McCall,Min-Sik Kim,Min-Sik Kim,Mohammed Adil,Arun H. Patil,Yin Lu,Chris J. Mitchell,Pamela Leal-Rojas,Jinchong Xu,Manoj Kumar,Valina L. Dawson,Ted M. Dawson,Alexander S. Baras,Avi Z. Rosenberg,Dan E. Arking,Kathleen H. Burns,Akhilesh Pandey,Marc K. Halushka +17 more
TL;DR: This project evaluated 8 billion small RNA-seq reads and identified both specific and ubiquitous patterns of expression that strongly correlate with adjacent superenhancer activity, establishing the landscape of human cell-specific microRNA expression.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microglia and astrocyte dysfunction in parkinson's disease.
TL;DR: The role of microglia and astrocytes dysfunction in relation to PD-linked mutations and their implications in PD pathogenesis are discussed.
